About Farabi Programme
Hello there, my name is Dilek Tosunoğlu and I work at Erzurum Technical University in the International Cooperations Office. I'm going to tell you about the Farabi Exchange Program today. The Farabi Exchange Program facilitates change between higher education institutions. Our university has an agreement with more than 50 universities within Turkey and our students can participate in educational activities with such universities for 1 or 2 semesters. All of our students are eligible for this program, apart from our students in the preparatory class and in the 1st grade. In order to participate in the Farabi Exchange Program, there is also the requirement of the Weighted Average (AGNO). For undergraduate students, their average has to be 2. The required average for MA and PhD students is 2.5. Here, the the number of courses is not important—the course credit is important. After receiving the approval of the other university, our students review the courses available at that university together with the department coordinators and organize a learning protocol. A student can benefit from the Farabi Exchange Program only once during their education. Students who benefit from Erasmus can also benefit from the Farabi Exchange Program. The student decides how long they will be educated at the university during the application—for one or half a year. We can even do this: if a student is not satisfied with the conditions after being at the university for half a year, they can apply for a waiver and return to their own university in the second half of that year. Grants are determined by the Higher Education Council. In September, October, November and December—that is in the first semester, in Fall Semester—70% of the scholarship is received. The remaining 30% of the scholarship is awarded to them upon their return, according to the success of the students. The application schedule for the Farabi Exchange Program is published every year on the Erzurum Technical University web page and on the International Cooperations Office page. The process starts in the following way—Farabi Exchange Program applications are accepted through Farabi Department Coordinators. The student applies to the Farabi Department Coordinator. Then all the applications are collected, evaluated and sent to the relevant universities by our Office. First of all, we wish all students success in the upcoming exam. We recommend that all our students benefit from these exchange activities for a better equipped, higher quality and more social education. In this process, we are ready to provide every kind of support as the International Cooperations Office of Erzurum Technical University.
