Koran Research Center (KURAMER)

Greetings, my name is Dr. Ali Bardakoğlu. I would like to talk about our Koranic Research Center in this short explanation. Our center, which is a part of İstanbul 29 Mayıs Üniversitesi, is dedicated to those who are studying the Koran for academic purposes. The Koranic Research Center runs and operates somewhat separately from the university, but it is located inside the university. This Center provides courses or classes like: religious sciences, Islamic science, hadith, jurisprudence, theology, mysticism, history of religions, sociology of religion, psychology of religion and theology of the Koran. The center also helps support, scholarships and awards for our students. As many people know, the study of the Koran is not very popular. The center hopes to challenge this issue in a positive way. The center hopes most importantly to bring Koran studies to an academic level and international level. One of the center’s many goals is to bring the study of the Koran in relation with other religious studies and give more weight to the study of it in scientific study. Firstly, we have established literature and programs with this aim in mind. Our purpose is to help people understand the academic value of researching and studying the Koran in the east, west, and the whole Islamic world through digital avenues. In the future, we hope to place more emphasis on the history of the relationship with the other religions, the relationship between culture and its relationship with the Arab geography, the relationship about the life of our Prophet, and the study of the Koran was written. Currently, 90% of our academic staff graduated from different theology focused departments. Our field experts are currently trying to coordinate a very large research project. The Center helps students with in country and out of country scholarships. If we want to progress in this field, we believe supporting students in their aspirations to do graduate studies and doctorate studies is one of the first steps bringing the study of the Koran to the forefront of the academic world. We are hoping students will do research in this area on the international level. We are hoping to help researchers be trained in Hebrew, Greek, Latin and other western language. We are also hoping for others to be trained in Arabic and Persian to be able to have influence in research and publications on an international scale. We want to support the center in this goal. The center was established for this purpose. There is also a need for further study done on the life of the Prophet and the Hadith.
Dear young people, the word university means to research. The university should be the center of research. A university should be a place where we train good academics and researchers. The center’s goal is work in conjunction with İstanbul 29 Mayıs Üniversitesi to advance our academic aspirations in Turkey and abroad. In addition, studies conducted in this area of the world will expand your horizons in new ways and computer-based research will inform on the reasoning and analysis needed to draw good conclusions. Dear young people, the Koranic Research Center is not just an idea. It is meant to be something to be shared with other people through academic understanding and research. We are attempting to bring people together with different perspectives, different talents and original works in the same area. We are wanting our people to understand and be equipped to explain their own book. We want its history and its content to be easily explained. With this goal in mind, we are placing a bigger emphasis on literature. The center is here for those who want to research on an international level and for those who want to be the best researchers in this field. Our societies and communities need these types of people as researchers. Our society shows great respect to the Koran. Our society sheds a tear when it is read, but there is a great need for our people to understand the content of what they are hearing and trying to understand. As a people, we are obliged to internalize the message and make it part of our lives. In the west, research about the Koran is very advanced. Unfortunately, in our country and in other Islamic countries, the number of studies and the level of rsearch does not compare to the west. We hope to change this through our programs and our development of future researchers. We want our young people to carry out research in this field on an international level. Dear young people, a good academic environment should produce good researchers. New ideas should not be under pressure. It is extremely important for an academic research environment to provide the ability for people to produce original work. The library setting is also very important. The Koranic Research Center has one of the best libraries that all students have access to. This is an essential part of our university. Also, we do workshops in regular intervals. We hold workshops on various topics related to the Koran. Scientists and academics present different views and ideas in these workshops to allow the exchange of ideas and discussion. This is an extremely important part for our graduate researchers in our academic community. After a student gets an undergrduate degree, the next important step is for them pursue a masters or doctorate in their fields of study. Every year, the center tries to devote scholarhip funds to 8 privileged students. Some of these students are given opportunities to study abroad or here in Turkey. We are hoping students will study in places like: England, Germany, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Argentina. We want them to deal with research conducted in those countries and be a positive influence and give academic contributions. To this end, the academic environment, academic studies, and academic support received is extremely important for a researcher. The city of where a university is located and the culture of that city are very important in how a researcher can be developed. This is why we believe our university is one of the best locations to pursue studies on Islam and the Koran. We are located in the center of Istanbul where history itself lives and comes alive. To develop the best researchers in this field, as a university we work in close relation with the Center of Islamic Research (ISAM) and the Koranic Research Center. We share a their very large library. To this day, we have gathered around thirty thousand digital books related to the Quran. Qw see these types of resources as an essential part for those who are doing research. Without this ressearch, doing more original work in these areas would be more difficult. It is valuable to add new things to the development of information to gain new meaning and understanding. We must evaluate history and heritage in the best way in order to move forward in modern research. It is important for us as Muslims to bring about a new modern understanding of our religion applies to the 20th century. Studying the past and bringing application to the here and now is how we can accomplish this. Our goal is to produce information according to our current environment and history of Istanbul 29 Mayıs University. Our university and the Koranic Research Center is located in Üsküdar, which is a major cultural center. Our goal is help develop the future researchers in Koranic and Islamic Studies for the future. I would like to recommend our school to any future potential students considering our educational institution.
