Career Planning on the Job Training Center
Hello, I'm Ayşenur Irkılata. I am the Director of Ostim Technical University Career Planning
and On-the-Job Training Center (KARPIEM). As Ostim Technical University KARPIEM unit,
we aim to achieve individual career awareness for our students and graduate them as
experts, competitive leaders and visionary individuals with our workplace experience
application program. In this context, as KARPİEM unit, we have been operating within
Ostim Technical University for two years. In our project, which we carry out with our
students within the scope of workplace experience, we enable our students from different
vocational schools and faculties to do practical training with different modeling systems
within the scope of their courses. In this context, while we consider our students, we
approach their future goals in a career-oriented way, with the right person for the right job
philosophy. In this context, we care about the dreams, wishes and thoughts of our students,
and at the same time, we enable businesses to increase their experience in their own fields.
This enables students to adopt the climate and culture of a business operating in their
profession. Before entering the professional business life, we complete the processes of
completing their own development with long-term practice training in the last 3 months. As a
career center, we start our communication with students as of the 1st grade, and in this
process, we first complete our individual career counseling 1st stage process. In this
process, we primarily introduce the career center to each student who applies to us via the
e-mails we send. Within the scope of one-hour interviews, we explain what we do, and we
discuss how we will befriend them on a career journey during this process. We hold
individual career counseling interviews with our students who want to continue afterwards in
45-minute sessions in order to improve their self-awareness and competencies for the 21st
century. Our students continue to receive individual career counseling from us after they
graduate and after they enter the business life. In addition, when we conduct interviews with
our students for our workplace experience application program, based on our 1st stage
interviews, we accompany them in their planning about the dreams they wanted to realize
while they were with us, and after graduation. In this process, we provide feedback on the
entrepreneurial side, career planning and self-awareness of our students. While we are
giving these feedbacks, we do not perform any tests. We enable our students to discover
themselves through individual career counseling interviews. Their self-discovery becomes
an important step for their self-awareness at the point they will take a step in their career
journey. Within the scope of the individual career counseling and workplace experience
program for our students, we provide various supports at our career center regarding
human resources at work, network applications at work and individual inventory systems.
Apart from this, the most important point is that our students complete their personal
development training both during their studies and after they graduate. At this point, we
bring our students together with experts in their fields. Within the scope of our activities, we
carry out individual studies. In addition to organizing a series of seminar trainings for our
students, we care about organizing interactive trainings with workshops and ensuring that
students adopt a more effective and active learning style by participating in these trainings.
