Audiology

Hi, I am Hatice Deniz, a senior student in the Department of Audiology at Inonu University Faculty of Health Sciences. The Department of Audiology is a health department that trains specialists in diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of hearing, balance and hearing-related speech disorders. The aim of the department is to train audiologists who will take care of public health, research, question and train equipped audiologists in the diagnosis, treatment, evaluation and rehabilitation of hearing and balance disorders. It was born as a necessity as a result of post-World War II injuries. It entered our lives as an undergraduate program for the first time in Turkey in 2011, and immediately afterwards, in 2012, İnonu University Department of Audiology was established and started to accept students. In our department, various courses such as Anatomy, Physiology, vestibular, rehabilitation, and hearing aid are taught. We have equipment affiliated to Turgut Özal Medical Center Audiology Clinic in İnonu University Department of Audiology. This is how we can carry out our application trainings. To put this briefly, we are able to carry out our training with various equipment such as Videonystagmography, Video Head Impulse test, Vestibular Stimulated Myogenic Potentials, Auditory Brain Stem Responses, Audiometer, Immunanegimeter, Neonatal Scan, which are hearing and balance devices. We implement our trainings regularly during summer period. We can carry out our applications in various places such as schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, hearing aid centers, and Inonu University Education and Research Center for Children with Disabilities. After graduating from the Department of Audiology, we can work in many different fields. These are hearing aid centers, cochlear implant centers, balance centers, industrial institutions, private and public hospitals. We had a visit to Inonu University while we were studying high school. That's how I met with the Audiology Department. Afterwards, I decided to choose the Department of Audiology. I chose Inonu University because of campus facilities and educational opportunities. After graduating, my first goal is to become an Audiologist who can apply what she has learned. My advice to candidates who would prefer our university and department is as follows: The Department of Audiology is a department that is very open to self-improvement and effort. You can be audiologists who come here and research, question and develop. Our university offers great facilities. You can also choose our university to take advantage of these opportunities. It’s a privilege to be a part of İnönü University. I wish success to all students who will take the exam.
