International Relations
I was born in Adana in 1972. I attended primary and secondary school at Adana State Free Boarding Secondary School. I studied political science and international relations at Bilkent University with a full scholarship from the Directorate of Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Later, I completed my master's and doctoral studies at Marmara University. I worked at Saray Bosnia University in Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Cyprus. Since 2008, I have been working as a faculty member at Istanbul Aydın University and since 2009 I have been working as a faculty member at Yalova University, Department of International Relations. Our department was founded in 2009. We had 55 students at first. They're in the preparatory class. Our department 100% English. In our department, we mainly have students from different regions of Turkey and foreign countries. We also provide education in the form of master's, doctorate, and evening education. Introduction to Political Science, Introduction to International Relations, International Organizations, European Union (EU) Integration, International Relations Theories, Comparative Political Systems, Middle East Policy, Central Asia Policy, Turkey-EU Relations, History of Diplomacy and additional regional courses are provided. There are research laboratories both in our faculty and in our library. Our department has a Conflict Management Research Center. Here, our students conduct research in the laboratory. Our students can also organize both national and international conferences with the clubs they have established. In our department, our students can do internships both in the public sector and in the private sector and in municipalities. With the Erasmus Program, our students can easily go to universities in Europe with exchange programs. At the same time, with the Farabi Program, they can carry out educational activities by participating in exchange programs in many universities in the country. We previously organized a conference within the Strategic Research Center of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We organized an international Kyrgyzstan workshop. Both the public bureaucrats and academicians at other universities and our own students participated in this event and organized a beautiful international workshop. It's been a great experience for us, too. We have students in the communication sector who work for both the national channel and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. That's a great achievement for such a new department. Students who will study International Relations should know that the language of instruction is English. They should check out the infrastructure, equipment, classroom structure and staff of all departments of the university they want to get into. In addition, they need to check the language of education so that universities can offer not only English but also other foreign languages as elective courses for students who will study at the Department of International Relations. Our most important advantage for our students coming to our university is that we have a university close by the sea which is quite green. They will think that they enrolled in a private university. Our students will have significant advantages both in terms of accessing library resources and in terms of settlement and housing. First of all, my advice to students who are thinking of coming to our university and who will choose our department is this: do research before making a choice. We think that they will definitely succeed when they choose Yalova University Department of International Relations. We welcome all students to our university.
