Cappadocia is the place where contemporary civilizations have been founded. By the term contemporary civilizations I also refer to prehistoric ones. In Cappadocia we form the last ring of a 10,000 year old campus. This is quite significant as regards the transfer of a tradition. This tradition is not only about historical ruins, ancient artefacts and protected areas. This tradition reverberates and overflows from customs, thoughts and values of the people who live in there. Cappadocia is a unique and special place. There is no other place like this in the world. Contrary to common belief, we don't suppose that university education should be only in motropolitans and big cities. Of course and it’s obvious that big cities have some kind of advantages. But, besides these advantages, they also have disadvantageous parts. The number of people who live the day in big cities is pretty high. Transportation, entertainment and other activities enter peoples lives by stealing their time. A person can become a college student only once. He intends to devote 4 years of his life to studying only once. To my mind, these 4 years may be experienced most productively, efficiently and peacefully in a place like Cappadocia. Education behind the times and which does not follow the developments in the world is an unacceptable educational concept in Cappadocia. We don't want to create a generation of unemployed people in Turkey. A Cappadocia University student should have a distinction when he has a Cappadocia pin on his collar. The way that people look at him and the place he sees himself should be different. Most importantly, he should become a public opinion leader. For instance, you enroll in a course to learn a language. Let's say it is a 14-level course. In our country, people will generally try to reach the fourteenth level starting from the first one. But they will never be able to reach that fourteenth level. It would be a disconnected education system or you will go right back to the level where you have started because you wouldn’t be sure of yourself. We want to remove this 'going back to the beginning situation' from the education system in Turkey. To do so, we aim to give the most important information that the student needs in his first year of studies.

The Cappadocia University graduate will stake a claim on his own country by appraising it, and will recognise the countries he is in communication with. Because, we have an aim to train regional experts. By regional experts we mean those who have a profound knowledge about Turkey's neighbors, Turkey’s rivals in the World and also probable friends and enemies. We struggle to achieve our best. We will either do this or we will give up. The motto of our university is "actions speak louder than words''. We will carry our students to the best places with a brand new educational approach.

The notions of “logic, wisdom, equality, tradition” are universal concepts ; however, they are the ones that sustain Turkey. They all have to exist. If one were missing, the country would be in trouble. And for the logic, logic is the temple of university. Inconsistent and unlogical education, behavior, values and deviations are not acceptable in any university. We want students who aim to come to Cappadocia to acknowledge this very well. Whatever we are going to talk about or discuss and agree upon, we have to be logical in whatever we are going to do. Wisdom is that the teacher and student do not fool each other. Fooling happens in two ways. The first way is to lie and to cheat, and the second way is not doing what you are supposed to do. Wisdom means fulfilling commitments. By saying "I did what I could" noone can be wise; someone becomes a wise person by actually doing what he should. In Turkish society we are the people who can even prefer justice to freedom. We have to be fair. In this concept of fairness; I am talking about a system in which students, instructors and academic staff are fair towards each other. Justice will be based on the principle of neutrality that will be handled everywhere, especially in grades. We are a Turkish educational institution that tries to give universal values through the Turkish customs. This was also the case with Cappadocia Vocational School, and will be the same with Cappadocia University. We can offer the world's most advanced, most privileged aircraft maintenance training. But we give it in our own way. This method is the master-apprentice relationship that we have seen and adopted from ahi community. Students of Cappadocia University do not throw caps at graduation ceremonies. They put on a belt. (Putting on a belt: is a ceremony taking place when the apprentice is ready to perform the profession in the ahi-order.) Putting on a belt is the master saying, "You can take my place now". We give importance to prevent our students to become stranged to university education. One of the most important factors of this alienation is the Turkish language. We attach importance to Turkish. The medium of instruction in the school is Turkish. By the way, as everyone agrees Turkish is a mathematical language.

We think that it is not sensible to teach the students in a language that they cannot speak. Fistly, we will teach what they do not know. Meanwhile, we will provide language education. But this will not be used as a medium of instruction.
We will assume the language education as the cream of the cake in addition to courses.We will teach first and then combine it with the language education. I want to say something to the students who want to come to Cappadocia. After graduating from high school, education may be insufficient. At Cappadocia University, we prepare our course contents and plans plan them to eliminate these deficiencies. That is, we aim to support our students wherever they need. In the 21st century, there is a tough turn ahead. We can not pass this period by tricking ourselves and covering it. We need to do our job well in order to be able to pass this term; and we must know well what we are doing.we must know what we are doing well. From this aspect, the University of Cappadocia will be a center. We are marching towards perfection in the center of glorious Anatolia away from confusions. I wish university candidates success. You have to try again and again until you succeed to enter a university in the field you want. I hope you achieve your goal at your first try. If you are doing the profession you like, neither to study nor to work will tire you. Do not choose the fields of study you feel you have to do. Make sure you examine the tests that demonstrate the areas the students are inclined to. You will experience it once, and do your best then.
