Faculty of Islamic Sciences
I can say that our students are lucky in terms of employment. As a matter of fact, when you look at the distribution in terms of job opportunities, many of our students work at MEB (Ministry of National Education). In addition, we have students who are working in the Directorate of Religious Affairs. We have students working in the private sector. Our faculty provides 100% Arabic education and continues providing 100% Turkish education. Our students, who have the advantage of studying a foreign language, also have the opportunity to work in the private sector with the advantage of their language skills. Finally, students who have educated themselves thanks to the great academic staff continue to have the opportunity to become academicians in universities. One of the most important reasons why our faculty is preferred is its academic staff. The young, dynamic and equipped academic staff together with the veteran academicians from the field are among the most important reasons for choosing our faculty. In addition, the location of our beautiful Yalova can be one of the reasons. The fact that Yalova is located between Istanbul, Bursa and Kocaeli provinces makes our faculty and university a center of attraction. In addition, our university, which is a boutique university, also has a great campus. In addition to being preferred for its location and infrastructure, it is possible to say that our university provides an advantage to our students in terms of dormitory facilities. As a matter of fact, we have a student dormitory right next door to our campus, which was completed by the Credit Dormitories Authority (KYK) this year and will be opened in time for the next semester. In addition, the sorority house built by the Scientific Dissemination Society adjacent to our Faculty of Islamic Sciences is also another reason to come here. I recommend the students who have taken the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) to study in a faculty that will make the best of their efforts. If they intend to do academic work in the field of Islamic sciences, they should choose Yalova University, and I wish them a life of education full of health, enjoyment and success.
I would like to start by briefly introducing myself, a Yalovan, to our esteemed students who have successfully completed the YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam) marathon. After completing my university education at Marmara University Faculty of Theology, I completed my studies in the Directorate of Religious Affairs, and then briefly worked as a teacher at MEB (Ministry of National Education). My career in the academy started in 1994 at Sakarya University. From 1994 to 2018, I worked as a lecturer at Sakarya University Faculty of Theology. After 25 years of academic work, I was appointed dean of our Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Yalova in 2018. I am currently completing my 3rd year as dean of Yalova Islamic Sciences Faculty. In 2012, our faculty started providing education with a quota of 60 students for the first year. We have been around for nearly 10 years. We have graduated 300-400 students in these 10 years. There are 3 main departments within our faculty: Department of Fundamental Islamic Sciences, Department of Philosophy and Religious Sciences and Department of Islamic History and Arts. There are sub-major Branches connected to all 3 departments. For example, in the Department of Fundamental Islamic Sciences, there are major disciplines such as Quran Interpretation and Kiraat Department, Department of Interpretation, Hadith Department. We also have sub-departments in philosophy and religious sciences, islamic history and arts department. We also have workshops in our faculty. For example, we do workshops for calligraphy. Our head of the Department of Islamic History and Arts himself teaches our volunteer students the intricacies of calligraphy in this workshop. We also have a music workshop. The esteemed faculty member of our department takes care of our own volunteer students one-on-one and teaches the art of music on a theoretical and practical basis. In addition, we have workshops for hafızi training and private lessons. After the course hours are completed, our volunteer students can study for these workshops mentioned. Students of our faculty study MEB (Ministry of National Education) coordinated teaching in the last year, a form of teacher practice. These internship practices, which continue under the supervision of teachers affiliated with MEB, are also undertaken by the faculty members of our own faculty.
