Hi, I'm Selin Sam. I am a 2nd year student in the Department of Aviation Management at Istanbul Topkapı University. The Department of Aviation Management aims to train executive personnel responsible for all departments within the airports. It also aims to improve aviation. Our department is located at Istanbul Topkapı University Kazlıçeşme Campus. The Department of Aviation Management is a very comprehensive department as it includes other aviation departments. We take the Basic Operations Course, Meteorology Course, Aircraft and Flight Information Course, Passenger Services Course, Air Law, which are courses that all people who are involved with aviation should take. From the 4th grade, we have an obligation to do an internship in our department. We complete our internships in 20 days
. Both our departmental teachers and our school's Internship and Career Center support us. Students who graduate from our department can work in Passenger Services at Apron. However, the advantages offered by our department are not limited to this. Aviation graduates who want to take a senior position can pass the necessary exams and advance to departments such as Air Traffic Control and Pilotage. Working in the aviation industry has been one of my biggest dreams. Aviation is a very prestigious, very advantageous branch that brings with it discipline and responsibility. However, it is an industry that is especially dominated by English. I chose this department both because of my admiration for language learning and the aviation industry. I chose Istanbul Topkapı University for its campus and its academic staff, and also for the easy commute. I can say that the academic staff of our department is great. That’s because we have teachers who work at Apron and passenger services in every course we take. In addition, we take courses from our High Aircraft Engineer and Pilot teachers who graduated from Topkapı University. After graduating from the department, I want to work in the administrative department at Apron. However, I would like to progress by taking the necessary exams to work in the tower, as the Main Traffic Controller. There are some things that are necessary for this, such as developing my English language skills. If I meet these requirements, the first place I will apply is Air Traffic Control. Candidates who will choose departments in the field of Aviation, not only the Department of Aviation Management, should be serious and responsible, and improve their English Language skills and other skills.
