Department of Coaching Education

Hello, I am Burakcan BOZKURT, a 3rd-year student in the Department of Coaching Education at Balıkesir University Faculty of Sports Sciences. The Department of Coaching Education is a program where qualified coaches are trained in terms of specialized theory and techniques in their respective sports. Our department is located at Balıkesir University Çağış Campus Faculty of Sports Sciences. Within the scope of our courses, we take various elective courses from different sports in the first 4 semesters. These include football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, gymnastics, and many other elective courses. The theoretical courses we take include physiology, anatomy, athlete health, and athlete nutrition, among others. We have an exercise physiology laboratory and a computer laboratory. We use various performance assessment tools such as physiokinetics and dynamometer. In addition to that, we have various facilities such as a football field, fitness center, basketball, volleyball, handball, gymnastics halls, and wrestling hall for our practical lessons. Before graduation, we undergo internships for professional experience and practical training. Moreover, we have the opportunity to become familiar with scientific methods through the research project course before graduation. After graduating from the Department of Coaching Education, we have the opportunity to work in various fields such as the Ministry of Sports, Sports Federations, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the private sector. I have been involved in sports since my childhood. After completing high school in a sports high school, I chose the Department of Coaching Education to pursue this profession in a professional manner. I chose Balıkesir University Faculty of Sports Sciences because of its high level of specialized education in the field. Since our department is sports-oriented, the most beneficial facilities for us are sports halls and sports equipment. We can easily communicate with our teaching staff and acquire knowledge and experience from them. We also have many social opportunities such as tennis tables, table football, and cafeterias. Due to the difference in specialization, the goals of each student in the Department of Coaching Education vary. As my area of expertise is bodybuilding and fitness, my primary goal after graduation is to open my own sports center after working in a corporate and large-scale gym. I would like to emphasize that we receive high-quality education to prospective students who will come to Balıkesir University Faculty of Sports Sciences. Our university, as Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said, is a university where intelligent, agile, and moral teachers, coaches, and managers are trained. Those who choose our university and department can confidently prefer our university to develop themselves, gain knowledge, and acquire solid experience.
