Department of Odiology

I'm Huriye Caylan. I am a third year student at the Department of Audiology in Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. The Department of Audiology includes the prevention of hearing and balance disorders, the assessment of hearing and balance systems after disorders occurs and rehabilitation stages. It includes hearing aid applications and auditory rehabilitation applications in hearing impaired individuals and vestibular rehabilitation applications in individuals with balance disorders. The bachelor's degree in Audiology is carried out full-time for four years. Individuals who have graduated from audiology are given the title of audiologist. Our department is located in the Esenboga Campus of our school. Our courses are theoretical and practical. In general, these can can be divided into two categories: assessment of hearing and assessment of balance. We have courses on tests applied during the evaluation phase, rehabilitation stages, hearing aids, and calibration of devices. There are four laboratories in the Esenboğa Campus of our school. These are the objective and behavioral assessment lab, vestibular assessment and rehabilitation lab, instrumentation and amplification lab, and the hearing screening laboratories. We also have hearing test cabinets, and auditory and vestibular assessment and rehabilitation devices. Our internship program includes a summer internship in the second year, a summer internship in the third year and a clinical internship in the fourth year. After graduating from our department, students can work in hospitals and clinics, hearing aids centers, schools for the hearing impaired, special education centers, universities, hearing aids or implant companies, factories and industrial organizations. The audiology Department is a new and developing department in our country. That's why I chose this section because I think it has a promising future and has more job opportunities compared to other departments in the field of health. The reason why I chose Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University is because the Audiology Department was located in very few universities, and one of them was located in Ankara. That was my biggest advantage. Because Ankara is a city with a lot of opportunities for students and gives students a wide social environment. That's why I chose this university. Among the opportunities offered while studying in our department are the content-rich libraries and the dynamic and pro-student staff. My goal after graduation is to be an effective and experienced audiologist. In the following years, I aim to see myself in the academic staff of the Department of Audiology. As a student studying at Yildirim Beyazit University in Ankara, I would like to advise university candidates to choose our school because of its dynamic academic staff and the various opportunities provided by our school. I wish success to the candidates who will choose Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and the Audiology Department.
