Computer Engineering

Hello, I'm Meliha ÇAKMAK. I am a 4th year student at Pamukkale University Computer Engineering Department. This department was established in 2003. Currently, there are 700 students in the department, which is located in Kınıklı Campus. There are basic engineering courses, followed by programming courses. In the 3rd and 4th grades, students can choose courses according to their interests. We have two computer laboratories and there are 40 computers in each of our laboratories. We also have a network laboratory. Apart from this, we also have laboratories that are used jointly with Electrical and Electronics Engineering. We have two compulsory internship programs for 30 days. We do internships in either software or hardware fields. As a graduation project, we are required to write a thesis in the final year. Computer engineers can work in any field that requires technology. I had a passion for software and computers since I was a kid. I started making small-scale websites at the age of 11. Then my curiosity about games followed. I learned the C++ protocol. Before that, it was just like a hobby for me, not a career choice. Later, with the guidance of my family, I attended Computer Engineering. I had other possibilities, but when I checked out the academic staff, I saw that the professors specialized in my field of interest were in Pamukkale University. While I was studying in the department, the privilage I benefited the most was the academic staff. It was really beneficial for me to be able to consult my professors whenever I wanted to get their opinions. Apart from this, I actively used the library and the study areas in the faculty. I want to do a master's degree after graduation. While doing my master's degree, I would like to enter the business life in a more knowledgeable and more experienced way in my field via internship programs. Computer engineering requires a very organized and disciplined study, so I advise candidates to familiarise with study routines. Apart from that, knowing English is very important. Because although Turkish sources are abundant today, we always have rely on English sources. Apart from that, they better improve their researching, learning, and problem-solving skills.
