Associate Program of Paralegal Studies
Hi guys, I am Ramazan Özkan. I am a student at Paralegal Program at Vocational College of Cappadocia University. The goal of our program is defined as train assistants for the judges and prosecutors. However, I’ve noticed that this definition is not sufficient when I got in the loop. We are not only the assistants to the judges and prosecutors; I can say that we are assistants directly for Turkish Law and International Law. The courses generally provided are the subjects that we can come across with in both our career lives and daily lives. For example; Labor Law, Criminal Law, Introduction to Constitution courses. These courses are the subjects that we will come across with constantly in both our career lives and daily lives, as I’ve mentioned before. We have a computer lab. We conduct our ten-finger typing courses and perform applications in there. Enforcement Programs course are conducted in the same lab, too. Meanwhile, we learn Word programs under the name of Basic Information and Technology course. We can do our internships at Palace of Justice or law offices. Our internship lasts thirty days. In the internships, we practically apply the theoretical information that we learn in the courses. After graduation, we can work at both private intuitions and public institutions and organizations. It is not limited to these, we also have the opportunity to be a bailiff, deputy bailiff, enforcement officer and recording clerk. At the same time, we can make progress in our academic lives after getting into the Faculty of Law by taking External Transfer Exam (DGS). The reason why I got into this program is because I think everybody needs someone in the judicial system like everybody has a doctor in this day and age. This is because most of the people become victim due to the lack of education, we can see it clearly when we look outside. I’ve preferred Paralegal Program to defend these people and to have a good role in the judicial system.
One of the main reasons why I’ve preferred Cappadocia University is that when I compared, I saw a really huge gap between other Paralegal Programs and Paralegal Program at Cappadocia University. The reason is because the courses in Cappadocia University are the subjects that we will come across with frequently in both our career lives and daily lives, as I’ve mentioned before. To be honest, the courses have fascinated me. I’ve taken advantage of academic staff because we have young and high-spirited professors. They are also as curious as we are. They learn our newly changed judicial system and some constantly changing laws and convey them directly to us. So, this is really useful for us. After graduation, I would like to go to the Faculty of Law by successfully passing the External Transfer Exam (DGS). Here are some advices for those who will prefer this program: First of all, you need to overcome your prejudices. People around me are telling that Paralegal Program is difficult. The reason why they are telling this is because they think it is based on memorization. In fact, Paralegal Program is not based on memorization. It is more based on your comprehension ability. Why should they prefer this program? Because there are a lot of places where you can improve your hobbies. It is really different from many other places in terms of its human structure and nature. I can give myself as an example. I was born and raised in Alanya. When I first came here, I didn’t wear glasses, tie a tie, and now I have an intellectual personality because nature makes you identify with a character and both you and people around you are satisfied with this character. At the same time, there are very beautiful places for those who want to take photos. We have our valleys. I say our valleys because I am really identified with Cappadocia, right now. I think same thing will happen to you, too. Those who will come here will understand what I’m trying to say better. I wish success to those who will prefer here.
