Associate Program of Dialysis Technolgy
My name is Zeynep Doruk. I am studying Dialysis Technology at Vocational College of Cappadocia University. Our department consists of Dialysis-English and Dialysis-Turkish programs. The aim of the Dialysis Department is to train modern, knowledgeable and well-equipped professional dialysis technicians who value the human health and ethical values to work in dialysis units for dialyzing, following up and treating the patients and ending the dialysis phases in cases where the patient needs dialysis. Courses such as Microbiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Medical Terminology, Sterilization and Disinfection, Internal Diseases, Dermatological Disorders, and Nephrology are taken and carried out in the dialysis program. Our practices have been actively carried out one-to-one by our experienced professors in our well-equipped labs. We have one laboratory. We have been putting our courses taken theoretically into practice in this lab that you see right now. Our university has made agreements with many distinguished health institutions. We have three internships separately at Nevşehir State Hospital, Erciyes University and FMC (Fresenius Medical Care), and we have been doing our summer practices. We have to do the summer practices within 20 working-days and after completing this practice, we graduate from our university. We don’t have any capstone project in our department. We are able to work in dialysis units of health institutions and organizations, insurance companies, private hospitals and university hospitals. Those who would like to continue their academic life are also able to pass the department of nursing by taking the exam, DGS (External Transfer Exam). I’ve preferred this department because my dad was a diabetic and we were going to the hospital constantly and then I saw the dialysis technicians there. I was interested, so I did some research about it. Therefore, I’m here. Moreover, I saw this university on a trip to Nevşehir in high school and I liked here very much. That’s why I’ve decided to come here. I benefited from our labs and experienced staff while I was studying in the department. I want to prepare for KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Examination) and be appointed to government agencies. If it’s not possible, I’m planning to work in a private hospital. Cappadocia University should definitely be preferred because of its high level of education. You also see practically what you’ve learned theoretically. Therefore, you start one step ahead of everyone. I am a student of Dialysis-English Program. Candidate students can choose either of two sections. I advise this department definitely if they can stand to see blood, if they are social, if they love older people. I wish those who will come to our university.
