Operating Room Services Program
Hello. I am Lecturer Emine Öner Karaveli. The Operating Room Services Programme is an undergraduate programme consisting of 4 semesters under the Vocational School of Health Services in Bağlum Campus. The main purpose of our programme is to train qualified health personnel who prepare the operating room with the necessary materials and equipment and who support the surgical team. We have theoretical field courses in the first semester. In addition to our compulsory courses as part of YÖK (Higher Education Council), there are also elective courses that support the socio-cultural development of our students. We provide one-on-one applied trainings for our students at the Simulation Laboratory within the Health Services Vocational School in the second semester, before they go off onto the field. These trainings cover applications such as surgical aseptic principles, correct and safe transportation of patients and hand washing. Students who complete their summer internships for 20 working days in the summer period, take on their courses during the 3rd and 4th semesters semester where they gain professional knowledge and skills. Students who successfully complete 4 semesters are entitled to receive the title of Operating Room Technician. Our graduates work in the operating rooms of private, public and university hospitals. Our academic staff consists of one professor and two lecturers. Our graduates can transfer to undergraduate programs such as Nursing, Nursing and Health Services, Emergency Aid and Disaster Management through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). Students who meet the appropriate criteria have the opportunity to graduate with two diplomas by doing a double major programme which gives them the title of Anesthesia Technician. It is a privilege to graduate from a health university such as a Yuksek Ihtisas University. Choose the Operating Room Services Programme of our university in order to become a confident and experienced operating room technician who is knowledgeable and well equipped. I wish success to all the candidates who will prefer the Vocational School of Health Services and our programme.
