Civil Engineering

I am Abdulkadir Genç. I am a research assistant at Yalova University Civil Engineering Department. I completed my undergraduate and graduate education at Boğaziçi University. I have been at Yalova University for about 10 months. Civil Engineering is the basic engineering branch that plays a role in the design, plan, project planning, construction and inspection of all kinds of structures that combine materials and techniques in the best way. Civil Engineers are trained in the design, plan-project, construction and inspection of all kinds of buildings, roads, airports, tunnels, roads, bridges, aqueducts, ports, water networks, sewers, railways, high-speed trains, subways and similar service and industrial structures. Civil engineering, the oldest and the most basic engineering branch, has always been the pioneer of civilization. Since civil engineering covers a wide area, there is a need for specialization in various branches. These fields are Structural engineering, coastal Engineering, Environmental Engineering, geotechnical engineering, Transportation engineering and materials science. We have a course structure that starts with Mathematics and Physics courses, which are the foundation of all kinds of engineering. In addition to the educational-instructional courses belonging to the sub-branches I have just mentioned, our course structure includes Turkish language, foreign language, Atatürk's principles and the history of the revolution, and elective courses that students can choose in line with their interests and wishes. Our graduates are able to work as project engineers, research engineers, control engineers, laboratory engineers, researchers and academicians in public and private organizations operating in the Civil Engineering sector in accordance with the needs and developments in the world. They will have the opportunity to take part in projects of different sizes as a team with their co-workers from different fields and disciplines. As civil engineers, we serve our society, our state and the world. The world is changing rapidly. As civil engineers, we must adapt to the changing world conditions and the opportunities provided by developing technologies in the best way possible. We should move forward to become civil engineers who follow and apply the developments in their field and have professional and universal ethical values. We have a new dormitory built by KYK and offered to Yalova University students. We have a student cafeteria within the campus that our students can use. Although Yalova's geographical location allows easy transportation within the city, students are able to travel to Istanbul, Kocaeli and Bursa, which can be considered as neighboring cities, in a short time by ferry and other transportation options.
