Laborant and Veterinary Health Program

Hello, I am Beyza TUNÇ. I am a 2nd year student of Izmir Bakırçay University Laboratory and Veterinary Health Program. Our program is a two-year associate degree in Veterinary Health at Menemen Vocational School, consisting of a total of four semesters and is a theoretical and applied program that adopts the 3 + 1 system. Our establishment purpose is to train veterinary technicians needed by food, livestock and stakeholders related to these sectors. Our program generally includes courses such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, biochemistry. We also have courses such as clinical applications, laboratory applications, animal nutrition, principles of animal breeding, birth, artificial insemination. In our program, there is a summer internship of 30 working days in the 2nd semester. We also have a workplace practice for a period of 5 months in the 4th semester. We have one laboratory in our program where various analyzes are performed. When we graduate from the laboratory and veterinary health program, we will have job opportunities in areas such as the care, feeding and breeding of various farm animals, pet animals, bees, wild animals. At the same time, we can also take part in stages such as animal food production, processing and inspection. One of the reasons I chose the laborant and veterinary health program was that I had grown up with animals since my childhood and thought about how they could be treated when they got sick. That's why I chose this department. One of the reasons I chose Izmir Bakırçay University was that it was close to the city I live in. At the same time, thanks to my research, I saw that the academic staff was qualified and dynamic and that's why I chose this place. While I was studying in the Laborant and Veterinary Health Program, the most common opportunity I benefited from was that I could reach my professors very easily. Even with the slightest problem, I can contact them without any trouble and solve my problem.My goals after graduating from the Laborant and Veterinary Health Program are to enter the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam) in order to strengthen my academic career and enter the faculty, and if I do not enter the faculty, I can find a laboratory and work in the laboratory.My suggestions to candidates who will choose the Laborant and Veterinary Health Program: I would like to express that animal love alone is not enough. I recommend you to do enough research for this program. At the same time, I advise my friends who will choose Izmir Bakırçay University to participate in the necessary activities, to benefit from the academic staff and to enjoy the advantages of the location of the university to the fullest.
