Psychology Department
Hello, I am Özgür AYDOĞAN. I am a 4th year student at Izmir Bakırçay University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Psychology.
The main purpose of the psychology department is to study people's behavior and minds. It is to contribute to people's health by examining conscious and unconscious behaviors as well as emotions and thoughts. The psychology department is located in Menemen Seyrek Campus.
Since we have a lot of fields for our post-graduate education, we take a lot of courses. These include field courses such as clinical, traffic, industrial and organizational psychology. In addition to these, we also have core courses such as statistics and psychopathology.
There are many laboratories in the psychology department. The most important materials of psychology laboratories are definitely computers. Because we do our analyzes on computers and I don't think our school has any problems in this regard.
Our internship program is as follows; Students from the 1st and 2nd grades who have no course deficiencies have a compulsory internship of 20 working days in the summer term of the 3rd grade. Students who complete this internship program are eligible to graduate.
After graduating from psychology, if we don't want to specialize, we can work in public areas. For example, hospitals, nursing homes, mental health centers. There are also many job opportunities in the private sector. Such as human resources, public relations and advertising. If we prefer to specialize, we can choose many fields such as clinical psychology, forensic psychology, industrial and organizational psychology.
I chose psychology because I like to understand people and I care about helping them.
I chose Izmir Bakırçay University because of its high level of education and strong academic staff.
While studying in the psychology department, I benefit most from the healthy communication I have established with my professors, the library environment we use during exam times and the fun environments offered by student communities.
After graduating from the psychology department, I plan to choose the clinical department for my master's degree.
Candidates who will choose the psychology department should definitely improve their English language skills. Because most of the literature is in English. In addition, I recommend you to follow many psychology publications to increase your interest. I recommend the students who will come to Izmir Bakırçay University to benefit from the knowledge and experience of our professors to the fullest and to have fun in social activities.
