Preschool Education
Greetings, I am Professor Zarife SEÇER, serving as the Head of the Department of Basic Education within the Faculty of Educational Sciences. Additionally, I hold the position of the head of the preschool education department. The Department of Basic Education comprises two primary branches of study: classroom education and pre-school education. Within the preschool education department, we have a faculty consisting of 9 instructors, 1 professor, 2 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, and 3 research assistants with doctorate degrees. We celebrated the graduation of our first cohort of undergraduate students in 2022. Currently, our students are progressing through the first, second, third, and fourth years of their studies.
In the pre-school education department, we offer an undergraduate program that follows the curriculum designed by the Higher Education Institution (YÖK) and focuses on pre-school teaching. Consequently, our courses encompass various areas such as pre-school science education, preschool mathematics education, drama education, preschool education programs, classroom management, and guidance. To facilitate effective teaching, we utilize both traditional classrooms and specialized workshops, with the latter being specifically equipped for certain courses like drama workshops. These workshops serve as settings for drama and game lessons. Moreover, we have established a kindergarten in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education on our campus, providing our students with practical opportunities in different courses. Under the guidance of their teachers, children in this kindergarten actively engage in practical components related to all their lessons starting from the first year.During the 2022-2023 academic year, we secured TUBITAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) approval for research projects led by our professors and carried out by our undergraduate students. Currently, our students are actively involved in these projects. Our department's faculty members have successfully completed ERASMUS projects, and we are currently in the process of preparing for new ERASMUS projects. Additionally, in 2022, our students, accompanied by their instructors, participated in the national congress of pre-school teaching. Presently, we are making preparations for the pre-school teacher student congress, where our undergraduate students, alongside our professors, have submitted applications for participation.
