Department of Psychology

Hello friends, my name is Ece Güler and I am a fourth-year student in the Department of Psychology at Ufuk University. The Department was established in 2004 and it is located on the İncek Campus. Since its establishment—with its successful and idealist academic staff—they have aimed to educate us in the best way and to make us successful and research-oriented students in the field. The courses we take during our undergraduate education guide us in our professional life in the sub-domains of psychology. We are learning to apply and score psychology tests for children, adolescents and adults over two semesters. Within the scope of Observation and Interview Techniques we have the opportunity to conduct observations and interviews under supervision. In the Psychology Laboratory in the university, both practical courses and scientific studies are carried out. Within the scope of the Field Practice Course, we have a compulsory internship for 25-working days in hospitals, the Ministry of Justice, in nurseries and in many other institutions. With this internship, we have gained experience and have the chance to apply our theoretical knowledge in the field. When I graduate from Ufuk University, Department of Psychology, I will have the opportunity to work in many areas such as mental health centres, hospitals, family and child courts, criminal and detention centres, nursing homes, kindergartens, related areas of universities, and in public relations centres. I have chosen the Psychology Department—which is connected with every aspect of life— because I am interested in cognitive processes and anomalies and because I intend to conduct research into it. The most important factor in my choice of university is the academic staff. The presence of many educators specialized in the sub-domains of psychology has been instrumental in my choice of this university. The Psychology Labs at the school are another reason for my choice. Candidates can choose our university if they want to study at a university where the academic staff is competent, social facilities are broad and the transportation is straightforward. I wish every success to those candidates taking the entrance exam.
