Electrical Engineering

Hello, I am Betül Yurdam. I am a Research Assistant in İzmir Bakırçay University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. One of the main goals of the establishment of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is to train our students to be equipped with knowledge and skills in modern subjects required by today's technology, who can present original and scientific solutions to the problems they encounter, are prone to group work, can express themselves, and we aim to train highly qualified engineers. In our undergraduate curriculum, electrical and electronics engineering courses are also included in addition to basic engineering courses. Courses are also given on topics that form the basis of electrical-electronic engineering such as Programming, Circuit and Electronic Signal, Electromagnetic Fields, Electrical Machines and Control. In addition to this, we are able to provide our students with the opportunity to specialize in the fields they want, with a wide range of elective courses that we offer to our students starting in the third and fourth grades. In Electrical and Electronics Engineering, the reinforcement of theoretical knowledge with practice, experiments, has a very important place in education. There are also modern laboratories for basic courses at our university. As these laboratories were newly created within the scope of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, they are equipped with the latest equipment. Let me talk about the laboratories. Circuit and Electronics grouped as Digital Logic, Microprocessors, Electrical Machines and Control Laboratories. In our undergraduate curriculum, there are internships that our students must complete starting from the seventh semester, which is the first semester of the final year. In addition, our students will be able to choose applied engineering education and have the opportunity to do internship during their last semester if they wish so. Thus, they can benefit from this internship after their graduation. Since Electric-Electronics is a technology that is used in all kinds of fields, the employment chances of Electrical-Electronics Engineers are quite high. For example, they can work in many companies involved in electronic hardware, electrical systems and also work in the defense industry. They can take part in the production, R&D and testing stages of the projects carried out in these companies. In this area, for example, they can take part in designing circuit systems and the improvement of them.
The reason I chose this departments is that I love programming, I’m interested in the way in which programming controls electronic equipment. Besides, I am also interested in researching and reading on technological developments. I wanted to be a part of this department by choosing Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which has an important place in today's technology and increasing in importance day by day with the development of technology. İzmir Bakırçay University, a newly established private state university, has a modern campus and extensive social facilities. In our department, students are provided with the opportunity to specialize in the fields they want with dynamic academicians who are experts in modern subjects and follow the new trends. In addition to this, experiments, homework and group projects that ensure that the courses are balanced with theoretical and practical knowledge are provided. And also, if the students choose to undertake compulsory internship and applied engineering education, the experience that our students will gain in their undergraduate education, along with the internship they will do there during the last semester will also be beneficial for their career after graduating. As a suggestion for students who will choose this department; I recommend them to keep up to date by following technological developments, and study regularly and in a planned way. In addition, I recommend that they choose the field they want to continue in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, examine the work done in this field and conduct their own studies. In addition, it would be good for them not to stick to a single field, as their participation in multidisciplinary studies will give them different perspectives.
