Department of Special Education

Hello, I'm Mavişe Çatal. I am a senior student at Social Sciences University of Ankara Northern Cyprus Campus, Special Education program. Special Education is an academic discipline that aims to train qualified teachers so that students with problems in their physical, mental and emotional development can continue their lives without alienation. Our department is located in Social Sciences University of Ankara, Northern Cyprus Campus. There are courses in our department like Applied Behavior Analysis and Social Adaptation Skills. Furthermore, courses related to teaching are also given along with courses on different types of disability. We have internship programs in our department. It is titled as the observation course in the second year. From the 3rd year onwards, it continues until graduation with observations in school and institutional experiences. After graduating from the department, we can work with students with special needs individually or in various institutions like Special Education Centers. In addition, we can have job opportunities in various universities by doing academic studies. I chose the Special Education Department because I want to have a role in bringing students with special needs into society, just like other individuals. I chose Social Sciences University of Ankara because of the research I did during my university application period. It is a well-established university and I think it will contribute to my development at the highest level. While studying in our department, we can communicate with our academic staff easily. We can benefit from places such as the library and convention center. We benefit from current events related to our department. My goal after graduation is to work for individuals with special needs to pursue their lives easily and independently. In addition to this, I want to do academic studies and I want to get my master's degree in our university. Candidates who will apply to this department should be really interested and devoted to this job.
