Department of Islamic Studies

Hello, I'm Nur Emsal Tuğay. I am a third year student at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Department of Theology. Our department is in accordance with the curriculum of the Council of Higher Education and has equivalence to the Faculties of Theology in Turkey. We have full scholarship opportunity here. We also have a five-year training period. First, we receive preparatory training. Thirty percent compulsory Arabic education is given by our native speaker instructors. In our department, we also have Pedagogical Formation Courses in addition to our curriculum courses so that we can be teacher candidates. Our curriculum in the department begins with Quran and Arabic language courses. Afterwards, we take Pedagogical Formation Classes like Psychology of Religion, Sociology of Religion, Special Teaching Methods, alongside the courses such as Kalam, Fiqh, Tafsir, and Hadith. There is a compulsory internship in the fourth year of our department. After graduating from the Faculty of Theology, people who are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus or who study here have the opportunity to become an Imam Hatip, Teacher or Qur'an Course Instructor assigned by the Presidency of Religious Affairs. The reason why I chose this department is the combination of my desire to be a teacher and my religious individualism. The reason why I chose Social Sciences University of Ankara is that we have foreign national professors who are the best in Northern Cyprus. In addition, there is a Preparatory Department, full scholarship opportunity, and students activities. In our department, we have the opportunity to communicate directly with our instructors. We also have transportation facilities and library facilities. In our department, we also take Classical and Modern Arabic Lessons in the Theology Academic Support Program. My goal after graduation is to apply for the master's degree available in our university, to improve myself and become a competent person in the field. Then it is to become a professor. For candidates who wants to study in our department, I recommend you to have more knowledge in Islamic Sciences Classes and thus to study harder. I wish success to those who will take the exam.
