Department of Turkish Language Education

Hello, I'm Yaren Kara. I am a senior student at Social Sciences University of Ankara, Northern Cyprus Academic Unit, Department of Turkish Language Education. Turkish Language Education is an Undergraduate Program. It aims to train educators who are going to teach Turkish language in the most proper way in educational institutions. The courses given in our department are Field Education Course, Educational Sciences Course, Literature Course, and Culture Course. As field education courses Speaking Education, Reading Education, Writing Education are given. These lessons are very important for the Turkish Language Education Department because by taking these lessons, we learn how to teach Turkish. In addition, we take Turkish as a Foreign Language Course. We take Theater and Drama Course in the 3rd year. We take this course in the workshop studio that is owned by our department. In this workshop, we have drama practices as a part of the Turkish as a Foreign Language Course. In the 4th year's 1st semester, we complete our internship by observing class activities for 10 hours. In the second semester, we complete our internship by teaching for 10 hours. The main fields we can work in when we graduate from our department are public schools and private schools In addition, we can give private Turkish lessons. We can find job opportunities in various universities by doing academic studies. We can work at Public Education Centers, Yunus Emre Institutes and TÖMER by getting a certificate in the field of Teaching Turkish to Foreigners, which is a great advantage of the Turkish Language Education Department.
The reason why I chose the Department of Turkish Language Education is that I wanted to be a teacher since I was a child. The reason why I chose this branch is that I have been interested in Turkish classes throughout my student life and I have been studying Turkish passionately. I chose the Department of Turkish Language Education because my interest in my own language increased my curiosity. The reason why I chose the Social Sciences University of Ankara Northern Cyprus Academic Unit was that it caught my attention during my university application period for being a well-established university with expert staff. The things that we benefit the most in our department are that we can communicate very easily with our academic staff, as well as that we make great use of physical facilities such as our activity center and library. As the Turkish Language Education Department, we have the opportunity to expand our visions and knowledge by hosting expert individuals in our conference room. In addition, our education is not limited to the classroom. We also organize learning activities outside the class by organizing trips and preparing material assignments. My post-graduation goal is to stay in Cyprus and do a master's degree in my own university. In addition, I want to have more than one job opportunity by improving myself in the field of Teaching Turkish to Foreigners. When I get to start working as a Turkish teacher, it is among my primary goals to train my students as a generation who have the necessary knowledge about the origin of Turkish, its birth and how it should be used. I recommend that people who have interest and dedication to reading and research should choose this department. I wish success to all students who will take the university exam.
