International Trade and Logistics
Hello, I am Selin Delibalta, a 3rd-year student at Ömer Seyfettin Faculty of Applied Sciences, International Trade and Logistics. We are located on the central campus. We have a 4-year undergraduate education and an optional 1-year English preparation. The purpose of the establishment of our department is to train individuals who can educate themselves, produce, and aim to contribute to international trade and logistics. In general, the education consists of basic courses consisting of various fields of logistics such as foreign trade, international trade, import and export management, humanitarian aid logistics, finance, customs, warehousing, inter-model transportation, and multi-model transportation. In addition, we also take professional foreign language courses in order not to be missing in the field. There are options not only in English but also in Spanish and German. Since we are affiliated with Ömer Seyfettin Faculty of Applied Sciences, we have a laboratory, in this laboratory, we receive training with IP and SIP software programs that we can encounter in business life. However, depending on availability, we can also get support from a different workshop. In the last year of our education, we have a compulsory internship program during the summer break, the advantage for us of being on the summer vacation is that we have the chance to start work without wasting time after graduation. After graduation, we can work in government institutions such as the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Economy, and we can take positions as logistics teachers in high school. In addition to this, we can also work in the fields of warehousing, customs, sales, customer relations, commercial line expertise, and import and export expertise of companies operating in logistics in the private sector. Our department addresses many different areas. We can classify them as the sea, air, and land routes, but since these are very wide areas, it is very difficult to draw a limit. I chose this department to read this department in high school and to improve further in the department I studied. I chose Bandırma because it is a port city and is developing day by day. I came to Bandırma thinking that I could find a job opportunity after completing my university education. I think I found what I expected. The academic staff is amazing and they are very happy to share their experiences with us. As students, when we see this happiness, we can establish a very close bond with the instructors. In this way, our interest, enthusiasm and love for the profession increases. We want to graduate as soon as possible and start working life. Apart from this, we have libraries that are open all times, there are a lot of materials and we can benefit from them. It has a huge impact on our education. The point I would like to mention is the student societies that we benefit most from. I am the head of the logistics community of our department. The interactions we have in the communities, the responsibilities we take and the organizations we manage bring us a little closer to business life. After graduation, I want to carry on my studies in the marine field. I am considering choosing one of the fields of export expertise, customs consultancy or project transportation. I advise students to research thoroughly before they make a choice and to find out if the department they are considering choosing is suitable for them. Because logistics is such a difficult sector that it may sound sweet but when we get into business life, we have to sacrifice a lot from our private life. In addition, they should not delay their foreign language education. When they start university, of course, they have to attend classes regularly. My advice is for them to take an active role in the community they are interested in when they come to school. If the opportunity arises, let them try to enter the administration. Let them get used to business life beforehand. I wish success to the students who will take the university exam. We welcome everyone to Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University.
