Nursing
I'm Enes Tarık Kartal. I am a 3rd year student at Bandirma Onyedi Eylul University, Department of Nursing. The department was established on October 10, 1996 within the Balikesir University School of Health, and accepted its first students in 1998. On April 23, 2015, it separated from Balikesir University and was established as the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Bandırma Onyedi Eylul University, with the mission of becoming a bridge to the future. The Faculty of Health Sciences is located on the Main Campus and has a history of 20 years. Courses given in our department are basic medical courses such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Biology. There are also vocational nursing courses such as Fundamentals of Nursing, Internal Medicine Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Women's Health and Diseases Nursing, Child Health and Diseases Nursing, Mental Health and Diseases Nursing, and Management in Nursing. In the last year, we graduated from the department by gaining professional experience with the Internship course.
In the department, we have 3 laboratories: Vocational Education Laboratory, Basic Education Laboratory, and Nursing Simulation Laboratory. We are undertaking the first applications of the vocational courses that I just mentioned in these laboratories. After gaining the necessary knowledge and skills, we continue these practices in the hospital. In this laboratory, there are low and medium reality simulator application models, and all the tools and equipment used by nurses which are used in hospitals. There is no project requirement for graduation in our department. However, we need to be successful in our theoretical courses along with our applied courses. Each semester we have different applied courses, and together with our theoretical courses, there are 12 hours of application sessions per week for each course. These applications are carried out first in the laboratory environment and then in the hospital environment. After graduating from the department, we can work in clinics, hospitals, workplaces, schools, prisons, patient care centers, and home care centers. I chose the Department of Nursing because it is a profession which provides high moral satisfaction. I chose this profession in order to be able to help people, to relieve their pain, and most importantly to say that I am doing something good for people in this world. First of all, I chose this university because it has a qualified academic staff: our professors are experts in their own fields, trained in deep-rooted universities, knowledgeable, and experienced. During the education period, I mostly benefit from the library, department laboratory, and hospital education. We can easily get in touch with our instructors in all kinds of problems we experience, and they really help us and share their experiences with us. First of all, I want to serve people as a clinical nurse, and then I want to continue my academic life by getting graduate education. First of all, the nursing profession is a profession that needs to be done with love, dedication, and patience. I wish good luck to the candidates who will take the university exam.
