Faculty of Islamic Sciences
Dear students who are the future of our country, I am Mehmet Fatih YALÇIN, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. I have been working as the Vice Dean and Department Head in our faculty for about 6 years. Our Faculty of Islamic Sciences was established in 2013 and began providing education for the first time in 2017. Our faculty curriculum consists of a year of compulsory Arabic language class and four years of undergraduate courses. We also have four different graduate programs. Currently, our faculty has 40 members and 560 students. Our faculty has three departments: philosophy, religious sciences, and basic Islamic sciences and Islamic history and arts. Our courses include exegesis, Islamic jurisprudence, hadith, philosophy, Islamic philosophy, religious philosophy, Islamic history, Islamic arts, and Ottoman Turkish. Our faculty's practice mosque will be operational next year. Our students will be able to take courses, especially in oratory and professional subjects, through practical applications in this mosque. One of the advantages of our faculty is that our students can take pedagogical formation courses while studying for their undergraduate degree. They also have the opportunity to increase their professional qualifications by going to primary, middle, and high schools for teaching practice in the 7th and 8th semesters. Our students can benefit from the ERASMUS program offered by our university to go to European countries. They take an exam in English or another Western language before going abroad, and those who pass the exam can study for one or two semesters abroad, depending on the quotas, and then return to our faculty. Before the pandemic, we organized three symposiums in our faculty. Two of these were national and one was an international symposium. Of course, with the pandemic, these types of events were disrupted a bit. But now, at the end of May, we are aiming to organize another international symposium and our work is progressing quickly. Our partners in the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, including the Ministry of National Education and the Presidency of Religious Affairs, offer our graduates opportunities to serve as personnel in positions such as Quran course instructors, imams, and muezzins when they succeed in the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) and related interviews. Since the Faculty of Islamic Sciences is at the center of social sciences, our students can also serve in various government institutions. Our students generally have difficulty in Arabic classes. However, we support them by providing supplementary lessons outside of regular classes with the help of other institutions, such as employees of the Office of the Mufti. With this method, we ensure that they learn Arabic and before they even reach the first grade, with the preparatory class. We have a young and dynamic team at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. Our faculty is located in the middle of the transportation network and is in a central location, and Bilecik Diyanet Foundation has provided 1000 TL scholarship to our students for the last two years. I would like to say this to the students coming from other cities to Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University. I would like to point out first and foremost that there is no accommodation problem in our city, which is very important for these students. I would like to emphasize that you will experience minimum problems related to the pandemic in our city. As the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, we provide scholarships to our students and also employ them part-time to improve their financial situation and provide an opportunity for them to showcase their talents. I wish success to students who will take the university entrance exam. I hope they will benefit from our young and dynamic team at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences.
