Department of Turkish Language and Literature
Hello, I am Hacı İbrahim DEMİRKAZIK. I am the head of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The Turkish language and literature department is a department that has adopted the principle of examining the historical development of Turkish, its fields of use, and literary works that have been revealed in historical processes, apart from scientific methods. Our department was established in 2009 within the faculty of science and literature. The department started providing undergraduate education in 2011, graduate education in 2012, and doctorate education in 2018. There are 5 professors, an associate professor, 8 doctoral lecturers and an assistant working in our department. Currently, 307 undergraduate students, 37 graduate students and 15 doctoral students are studying in our department. There are 5 departments in our department. These are the Department of New Turkish Language, Department of Old Turkish Language, Department of New Turkish Literature, Department of Old Turkish Language and Department of Turkish Folk Literature. Our courses are given within these departments. The aim of our compulsory and elective courses is to train our students in the field of Turkish Language and Literature at a sufficient level. In our department, there is a 2-hour theoretical and 6-hour practical internship program within the framework of pedagogical formation. The theoretical part is in our university; the practical part is carried out in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. When our students graduate from our department, they can work as Turkish language lecturers or research assistants at universities. In addition, they can undertake teaching duties in the Ministry of National Education. They can also work in institutions such as TRT and the Ministry of Culture, in the field of press and broadcasting. Our department students can benefit from internship and education opportunities abroad within the framework of ERASMUS and Mevlana exchange program. At the same time, they can benefit from education opportunities in the same way with the Farabi exchange program in the country. Our students have difficulties in courses such as Ottoman Turkish, Old Anatolian Turkish, verse and prose in Old Turkish Literature, where Arabic letters are used extensively. They can overcome these difficulties with the support of their teachers and advisors. The main course is to study in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature. If you like to read, you should choose the Turkish language and literature department. You will have great pleasure. If you don't like reading, if you don't like books, if you don't have an interest in language, this department is not for you. Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University has an award-winning campus. Both the architecture of our buildings and the facilities of our campus are extremely good. We have a very nice campus for both sports and social events. At the same time, the city of Bilecik is a student-friendly city. In addition, I must emphasize the location of the city. Bilecik is 100 kms from Sakarya, 100 kms from Bursa, 70 kms from Eskişehir and 2 hours from Istanbul and Ankara by train. This provides great convenience to our foreign students. I wish success to all students who will take the university exam. We welcome you all to Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature.
