Department of Aviation Management

Greetings, my friends! I am Zeynep KAN, a senior student enrolled in the Aviation Management program at Balikesir University Edremit Vocational School of Civil Aviation. Located in Balıkesir-Edremit Güre Neighborhood, the Aviation Management department is an integral part of the aviation sector, dedicated to ensuring the safe, efficient, and secure operations of civil aviation. Our program encompasses a broad range of education, from ground handling staff to airport management.
The curriculum of the Aviation Management department includes courses that cover essential knowledge for airport employees, such as ground handling procedures and passenger services. Additionally, there are courses designed to equip future airport managers with skills in finance, business, management, and organization. Every year, our students, under the guidance of our instructors, actively participate in Teknofest, showcasing their UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) designs and productions in our state-of-the-art Teknofest laboratories.
During the four-year program, students engage in internships and undertake a graduation project, which serves as their thesis, in their final year. Internships are facilitated through the "Presidential Career Gate" program, where students have the opportunity to be placed in state airports, private airline companies, or ground handling companies. Upon graduation, students of the Aviation Management department can pursue careers within the State Airports Authority or the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, the primary aviation organizations in our country. They can also seek employment at airports, airline companies, and ground handling companies both domestically and internationally.
I personally chose this department due to my passion for aviation, and Balıkesir University stood out to me because of its serene location in a popular holiday destination. Students not only benefit from quality education throughout the academic year but also enjoy various recreational opportunities during the summer months. The highlight of my academic journey has been the exceptional teaching staff comprising experts in their respective fields who provide us with valuable training based on their own experiences. Furthermore, the social environment at our university fosters job prospects for students, with many finding employment in the aviation sector, both domestically and internationally.
Upon graduation, I aspire to hold a managerial position at an airport or an airline company. I encourage prospective students considering this program to focus on improving their foreign language skills and communication abilities. Additionally, maintaining a positive outlook is essential.
