Hello, I'm Nihan GÜMÜŞKAYA. I am a fourth-year student at Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Law. The Law Department was established with the aim of graduating new candidates who have acquired a comprehensive understanding of the legal profession and ethics under the guidance of esteemed academics, in order to contribute to the legal world. In addition to the core law courses offered every year, elective courses are provided in various fields such as data protection, competition law, and intellectual property law, taking into account the diversity of public law and private law. Lastly, we also have professional English courses, specifically legal English courses, which are highly beneficial for both our academic studies and internship experiences. After graduating from our department, there are many different fields in which we can play a role. These include, but are not limited to, becoming a lawyer, a judge, a prosecutor, a notary, a mediator, or a legal consultant. The reason I chose the Law Department is because I have always enjoyed speaking, debating, and providing justifications since I was young. Additionally, I never hesitate to defend not only my own rights but also the rights of those around me, and I derive great pleasure from doing so. After this process, I consider it my duty to achieve a significant impact and address as large an audience as possible, both for myself and for the profession I will pursue. When the results of university preferences were announced, to be honest, the fact that the school I would attend was in Istanbul was a disappointment for me, unlike many others. However, later on, I realized how great of an opportunity it was and how much it could truly enrich our student life, and I felt truly privileged. First and foremost, we have an academic staff who are always by our side, enlightening our path with their vast knowledge. Most importantly, we thoroughly enjoy having tea or coffee with our professors, who never withhold their efforts and sincerity from us. Additionally, as students in our field of study, we often need to study, especially during exam periods, and our library serves as a great source of motivation for us. We have witnessed and continue to witness our university campus evolving and improving, with both its strengths and weaknesses. After graduation, I aim to complete my mandatory legal internship at one of Turkey's prominent law firms, which is an essential step in our legal careers. Following that, I plan to work in the field of intellectual property, which I find enjoyable and inspiring, shedding light on new paths while drawing inspiration from my own journey. I highly recommend all aspiring law students who want to complete their education and academic life with our esteemed academic staff, and who desire to engage in conversations over tea or coffee with their professors, discussing future plans, to come to Istanbul Medeniyet University Law Faculty.
