Department of Visual Arts and Design (Graphic Design)

My name is Ceren Tiryaki. I am a senior student at Baskent University, department of Visual Arts and Design. Visual art is a science of delivering message to a specific audience by visualising it, for example banners, logos, billboards, package design, magazines and book covers. While studying Graphic Design, there are certain compulsory courses such as Basic Art Education, History of Art, Typography, Advertising Analysis and Visual Communication; there are also some elective courses which will help you to decide what way would you like to go after the graduation, for example, Screen Printing and Commercial Photography. The studio we are in now is a Screen Printing studio. We also have sculpture and modelling studios. Besides the photography and Greenbox studios we also have two Mac laboratories. We have to complete two internships before the graduation- one in a press and another one in an advertising agency. During the senior year there is also a graduation project for Graphic Design students. We do this projects with the help of our supervisors by applying what we have learned from the first grade to last. There are many job opportunities for a Graphic Design grads. Publicity agencies, advertising and graphic agencies, movie or photography studios and animated cartoon workshops. Hello dear friends. I am a third grade student at Baskent University, department of Visual Arts and Design. I have chosen this department because I was interested in such things since my childhood and I wanted it to become my career. I used to go back and forward between Istanbul and Ankara, but then I decided to stay in Ankara. After doing some research I found out that Baskent University is good at graphic design, so I applied and came here. While studying here I benefit the most from the library and studios we have here in our department. My plans for after the graduations are master my degree and work for the international company later. My advice to those who are about to apply is come here to see the faculty, join the open faculty events, research the academic staff and then do the best you can while studying here. I would like to wish a good luck to all of you.
