Department of Economics
Hello, friends. I'm Nazli Pakmazjan. I am a first-year student of Economics at Başkent University at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Our faculty is located on the third floor of Bağlıca campus of Başkent University. The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, founded in 1995, has history of almost twenty years. Economics is primarily a social and theoretical science. Therefore, it should be good both in the digital sphere and in the social sphere. Since there are a limited number of resources on Earth, these resources must be efficiently distributed among people. Economists are working exactly on this. Generally taught subjects are: English - for four years, the first two years - basic mathematics and economics, history, law and as such. From the third year on these courses are being replaced by elective courses. Therefore, we can improve ourselves in any area we like. As a rule, we study in the classrooms in which there are projectors. At other times, we conduct research in a computer lab. The internship is not compulsory, but students who want to have it in contracted companies can do it. In order to graduate, we need only to accumulate a certain amount of credits. You do not need to prepare a specific thesis. When we graduate from our department, we will be able to work in most private companies and public institutions. For example, in the State Council, in the Ministry of Economy, in the Ministry of Finance, in the Treasury ... Since Başkent University is in Ankara - and since government institutions are usually located in Ankara - we have a university with a big plus in terms of internships and job opportunities. Friends, another friend of mine, who studies in the same department, will tell you about the advantages of this department later on this video.
Hello friends, I am Ozge Gokche, a 2nd year student at Başkent University at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in the Department of Economics. I chose this department, because I wanted to work in the field of management in the future. Apart from this, the Department of Business Administration also offers these opportunities, however, the Department of Economics has a wider range of business opportunities than Business Adminitsration does. Başkent University is a well-established university in Ankara. It is a university that ranks first among some private universities. Besides, it was the university, with a really large campus, that drew my attention during my visits to universities in preferred times. Since our department is Economics, we have not used many classrooms such as the laboratory, our lessons are usually held in the form of presentations in classrooms with projectors. While I was studying at Başkent University, I benefited most from the academicians. We have a very new library, which took its position in Turkey's rankings by the size. I also benefited from our library. My post-graduation goals: I work more as a manager, in the private sector or in the government. Başkent University is a university with solid infrastructure and solid teaching staff. My recommendations to the prospective students, who would like to come to the Department of Economics at Başkent University, will be: first of all, the question of whether Economics or Business is being asked. As a student of Economics, I can say that we study in a more difficult and numerical department, compared to that of Business Administartion. But there are much more business opportunities there. I wish good luck to all prospective students, thinking of entering Başkent University.
