About International Cooperations Office
Hello, I work as a lecturer in the Erzurum Technical International Cooperations Office and my name is Eren Özbek. Erzurum Technical University International Cooperations Office began operating four years ago. Our main activity is the signing of cooperation protocols with universities in and outside of Europe as well as with different higher education institutions. Within the context of these exchange programs we also facilitate continuous support in terms of the accommodation, the welcoming and the adaptation to the city and the university of visiting students (both from and to our institution). Students coming from abroad to Erzurum Technical University are accepted if they provide the required documents and their qualifications are considered sufficient. At the same time, students are admitted to our university with the grades determined by the Foreign Student Exams, according to the requisite criteria. As the International Cooperations Office, we want to ensure cultural dialogue with very varied cultures by accepting international students from different nationalities to our university as opposed to those from from similar nations and cultures. Foreign students, foreign students living in Turkey or students coming from abroad can enter the Erzurum Technical University Foreign Student Examination (ETÜYÖS). Students can apply to Erzurum Technical University with the grades they gain from this exam as well as being able to also apply to other universities. As of 2018, we have started the implementation of ETÜYÖS. With this exam students of different nations have the chance to study in Turkey. Our examination consists of forty verbal and forty logic questions making a total of eighty questions which are graded out of 100. ETÜYÖS tests the foreign language proficiency of students, or more correctly, their language sufficiency prior to the program. If they are deemed sufficient as a result of the language assessment, the students can start their program directly in the first year. Students who do not have or cannot reach this level start a language program to establish their proficiency.
As the International Cooperations Office, we facilitate the participation of students and staff from national universities in exchange activities with universities and higher education institutions in and outside Europe. With Erasmus Plus, we help our students and staff participate in the exchange activities in and outside Europe. At the same time, we are involved in the Mevlana Exchange Program and we are able to include our students and staff in this program too. We also have an exchange program agreement with Toi Shin University in Taiwan known as ‘Pax’. Our students can continue their education in specific periods in Toi Shin University in Taiwan as part of the Pax Exchange Program. Our university provides full recognition of the courses of our students through different kinds of exchange programs. Currently, our university is in the process of transferring to the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System)—as part of the Bologna Process—and actively recognises student courses jointly with ECTS benchmarks. As a result of undergraduate, graduate and doctorate education of our university, the diplomas received by students are supported with a supplementary diploma. These diplomas provided ensure an equivalence and validity abroad. The staff of Erzurum Technical University is composed of specialist and experienced academic and administrative staff. Thanks to this personnel, we are also making progress in terms of the quality of education. Erzurum city offers many opportunities for students, staff, and international students. Especially as it has become a center for winter sports, our students, staff, visiting staff from abroad and international students can easily access these activities thanks to our university. We wish success to those international students who come to Erzurum Technical University for educational purposes. We will be happy to see those friends from different nations here.
