About Erasmus
Hello, my name is Eren Özbek. I am working as an instructor in the Erzurum Technical University International Cooperations Office. For 4-5 years, we have provided our students and staff with Erasmus Plus type programs and participate in the exchange program with EU type projects. As the International Cooperations Office, within the context of Erasmus Plus, we have an agreement with many different countries in Europe for the participation of our students and staff in foreign exchange activities. Students and staff can participate in exchange activities with those universities that have bilateral agreements. In fact, both Turkish and international students can participate in Erasmus Program activities. If they have the sufficient language level and their GPA is above 2.20, then those friends will be able to carry out exchange activities in the universities determined by their success ranking. Our coordinator is personally involved in the orientation process—regarding the university and the city—of those students who come to our university, for the purpose of education or internship in the scope of the Erasmus Plus program. As Erzurum Technical University, we are in continuous communication with the higher education institutions we have contracted abroad within the scope of Erasmus Plus. We inform them in their student election periods and inform them about when our university's notification period will expire. In this way, they inform their students; thus, in the requisite acceptance periods, students who meet the requirements are accepted to our university for the purposes of internships or learning. As Erasmus Exchange Program students who are coming to our university (both for internship and receiving education) are evaluated with the ECTS system, all the internship activities or the courses they have taken are also recognized directly in their own institutions together with an adjustment process.
As the International Cooperations Office, we aim to enable students to participate in exchange programs outside of Europe by applying to different EU projects. Thus, an environment will be created in which our students will be involved in exchange projects both in and outside of Europe and students from abroad will be able to study in our university. In the context of exchange activities in and outside of Europe, the university aims to make even more agreements thereby furthering internationalization. International students who come to our university for internship or learning purposes can stay in the dormitories located on the university campus or in the KYK (Credit and Dormitories Institution) residences outside the campus by paying the same amount paid by Turkish students. When international students apply for housing before arriving at our university, we take these applications into consideration and communicate with the relevant people and apply for housing before they arrive. This helps to prevent our international students from having any problems with housing when they arrive. Erzurum, as it is well known, is the capital of winter sports in Turkey. Therefore, when our students come here, they will not only benefit from the numerous advantages and opportunities provided by Erzurum Technical University, but they will also have the opportunity to participate in the winter sports opportunities provided by the city of Erzurum. Our door is always open to students from both Europe and outside of Europe. As the International Cooperations Office of Erzurum Technical University, we will be waiting for you with all kinds of support and commitment. We await all those international students who wish to study at our university.
