Hello, friends! I am Tala Javaherian. I am from Iran. I entered Başkent University through foreign student placement. The reason why I chose Turkey is that it is close to my homeland and I would not culturally feel strange. As to Başkent University, I chose it because of educational possibilities it provides me. I entered this university taking the examination for foreign students. Başkent University administers its own examination for foreign students, every year in late March or early April. The exam consists of IQ, general aptitude test which covers maths and geometry. There are 80 questions in the exam, and all answers are evaluated out of 80. Passmark is 40 points. I have been living in Ankara for one year. I could make friends easily, and I didn’t feel alone. So, I am very happy. I chose Başkent University because I would get an internationally-recognized diploma, it gives a high quality education, and I would be able to pursue quality student life. I had had doubts about the education life and the environment waiting for me. However, I could find answers to my questions by checking out the university webpage. I am very happy to choose Başkent University. In terms of our rapport with the professors, education, life on campus and social activities, they are all very pleasing. That’s why I am very happy to make this decision. Before entering Başkent University, I mean from my homeland, I had had my diploma and transcript translated in my country and had Turkish Embassy approve the translated versions. I received the equivalence certificate from the Ministry of Education after got to Turkey. I took the examination for foreign students at Başkent University, and I got placed to the department of dentistry. Then, I finalized my registration process by submitting my high school transcript and the certificate of equivalence at school. Başkent University provided me with a good circle of friends, additionally; I feel that campus life has made me more mature. That’s why I am very happy to choose this university. In time of trouble, both my professors and friends dealing with international students have supported me to a great extent. They have stood behind me like they are my parents in times of trouble. I am in a foreign country, but I didn’t feel alone. All academic studies, the quality of education and all courses we take are in line with European Credit Transfer System. All courses and diplomas at this university are internationally valid. Therefore, the quality of education is almost the same as in Europe. As for social and cultural activities at our university, both game rooms in the center of halls of residence and sports centers, other social communities are efficiently operating and serving students. I am sure that students staying on campus will not feel bored. There are so many things to do on campus that they can spend their leisure time as they wish. When I travel to other cities of Turkey and compare them to Ankara or to other capital cities since Ankara is a capital city, the cost of living here is much lower. Public transportation is easy. There are university shuttle buses from the city to the campus as it is a bit out of the city. They transport students from various parts of the city to the campus or from campus to other parts of the city free of charge every hour on the hour. So, we can go to the city center easily. I am sure that student candidates who want to come to Turkey will be happy when they choose Başkent University; they will maintain high standards of living and get good education. Thus, they can choose Başkent University with peace of mind. I am thinking of continuing at Başkent University after graduation if I pass the examination of specialty because I am very happy with my life here. I want it to continue in this way and I like the way it is.
