Department of Mechanical Engineering

Hello, I am Cüneyt Ekrem Arı. I am a third-year student at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Yıldırım Beyazıt University in Ankara. Engineering in Turkey was founded in 1773 by Algerian Gazi Hasan Paşa as “Muhendishane-i Bahri Hümayun”. Since then, engineering has evolved into its today's status in universities. We are continuing our engineering education at Ankara Keçiören Etlik Campus. In the first year of our department, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics courses are offered jointly with other engineering departments. In addition, there is a special technical drawing course for our department. Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Internal Combustion Engines courses are given. In the fourth year, we take courses related to the field we want to choose. Before graduation, we have to do two internships: Production and Management. In these internships, we gain great experience in seeing where we will work and choosing the area we want to work with. In order to graduate, we are obliged to do a graduation project in the 4th year. If we do not have a project, we will start this graduation project with our instructors and present these projects in the second term of the fourth year. We can work in all factories when we graduate. There is a need for mechanical engineers everywhere having Production and machine. In addition to factories, we can work in construction companies and engineering firms. Mechanical engineering has one of the largest fields of study. I think our country needs engineers in production. I think we can also produce high-tech products. That's why I chose mechanical engineering to meet this need. Our university offers education fully in English. This education in English is of great benefit to friends who wish to pursue a future master’s degree. Some countries accept us without an exam for their master’s degrees thanks to the English education we take. That's why I chose Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Since our university is newly established, we can actively take part in sports clubs and student clubs. I am the President of R & D (Research and Development) and Coordination Club. We took part in the first examples of many things in our school. My goal is to continue my education with a master’s degree after graduation. In addition, I am currently involved in several projects, and in the future, I want to continue the projects in business life. I would like to advise friends who will prefer the department to investigate in detail before choosing Mechanical Engineering. I think that mechanical engineering is an area that requires hard work and it should be done with pleasure. I also recommend that they should take part in a club when they are students. In advance, I wish success to the candidates who will choose Mechanical Engineering in Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University.
