Faculty of Law
I am Merve Özdemir, fourth year student at Faculty of Law, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Law - It is a set of rules enforced by state sanctions that regulate citizen-to-citizen and citizen-to-state relations. The Faculty of Law educates lawyers who will apply, regulate and develop these rules through their academic studies. At the same time, it contributes to the development of the legal sciences through scientific studies and social activities. The courses offered in our faculty are generally private and public law courses such as Civil Law, Constitutional Law, Execution and Bankruptcy Law which are generally compulsory in all law faculties. Moreover, another advantage of our school is that it provides low education in English as well. In addition to these courses, we take English law courses such as Law and Practice, Media and Law, Women and Law. Furthermore, our school, which gives importance to language education, provides foreign language courses such as Legal Arabic, Legal German and Ottoman Law Texts which are taught by foreign teachers. Our school has mock courtrooms which are available for the use of students. These courtrooms benefit students preparing for competitions in both an international arena and related to Turkish law. Our team, which prepared to compete in these mock courtrooms, has returned with high rankings in international and local competitions. For example, in the Consumer Law Moot Court Competition Turkey championship and the ISTAC Future Arbitration Attorney Competition, we won the Best Petition and Best Arbitration Attorney Awards. Our team, trained by our American teacher, represented Turkey at the Moot Court Competition in Vienna. Our school has agreements with many universities abroad under the Erasmus and Mevlana student mobility programs. In addition, thanks to law clinics, students have the opportunity to solve legal problems in practice before they even graduate. Law school graduates have a wide range of work opportunities public and private fields. For example, they can work as lawyers, mediators, judges, prosecutors, district governors and in many public institutions as supervisors or auditors. I prefer law school because I am a social person who likes to deal with human relations, and is interested in social issues. Moreover, since I like to read, I thought that the most appropriate for me was law school. The most important reason for me to choose Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University is that it is in the center of Ankara and is easy accessible from many places. In addition to having a strong academic staff, it is also the only state university that provides legal education 30% in English. As for the facilities that I benefit most from our school, they include the opportunity to have one-to-one dialogue with our teachers and to exchange ideas with them, have 24-hour access to our library, where I spent the most time during the year, have international symposiums organized by our school where we gained experience by having actual duties to do as students, and to have the opportunity to meet important professors from the legal community. After graduation, I want to participate in a faster and more effective manifestation of justice. For this reason, I will prefer the profession of judgeship. To do this, I intend to take the professional exams for judges and prosecutors after graduation. Here are my suggestions for the candidates who will choose Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Law: First, you should love to read and study. Today, English is required in almost every field and since the language of instruction is English in this department, I recommend that you take learning the language seriously. I wish success to the candidates who will choose Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Law.
