Faculty of Law
My name is Berfin Sütcü. I am a 4th year student at Anadolu University, Faculty of Law. I am from Eskişehir. Anadolu University, Faculty of Law was established in 1993 due to the need for qualified lawyers. It has been active for nearly 30 years since then. In addition to various basic courses in the fields of public and private law, our faculty offers various elective courses such as Criminal Law, Administrative Law, and Property Law. As examples of these elective courses, we can give International Arbitration Law, Notary Law and Notification Law. Our faculty has a computer lab and a courtroom that is almost the same as the one we are in now. In our computer lab, we can do all the work we need with state-of-the-art computers. Here, too, by performing various reenactments accompanied by our faculty members, we can better understand the court dynamics as if we are at the court. After graduating from the Faculty of Law, there is a compulsory internship period, which depends on whether you choose to become a judge, a lawyer or a prosecutor. This internship lasts for 1 year, and for future judges and prosecutors, it lasts for 2 years after taking the exams. Of course, while studying, you can optionally do internships in law offices or government institutions. In addition, if desired, you can benefit from the Erasmus internship program. After graduating from our faculty, advocacy, judicial administration judgeship and public prosecutor's office are our main fields of work, along with the mediation, notary public, academic and legal consultancy, which are our other fields of work. One of my biggest dreams has always been to study in law school. After the university exam, my only choice was law, I did not choose any other department. I can't even imagine myself in another department. I am very happy now that I have fulfilled this dream. Anadolu University selects its students with a high ranking. Actually, with the score I got from the university exam I had many other options, but as a result of my research, I realized that Anadolu University Faculty of Law was the best choice for me. I would still choose this place anyway. After my graduation, I want to get my license by doing the compulsory 1-year internship as a lawyer. Afterwards, I want to research graduate degree options in Turkey and abroad. I want to continue working as a lawyer while I specialize in one field. I would recommend students who will prefer our university, to aim to be idealist lawyers before anything else, and learn English very well whether they are considering a master's degree or not. Secondly, I recommend that they learn the course content from the faculty members during the lesson and not from the lecture notes or photocopies, but by studying the books afterwards. However, we recommend that they never forget that being a lawyer is not just about textbooks or exams, but it requires some very important qualities such as unshakable belief in human rights and justice, open-mindedness, and civil courage. Finally, prospective students should enjoy Eskişehir and the social and cultural opportunities it offers. I wish good luck to those who will take the exam. I welcome you to Anadolu University Faculty of Law.
