Department of Nutrition and Dietetics

Hello, I'm Instructor ÇAKMAK SANCAR. I am the head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Health Sciences, Istanbul Esenyurt University. Department of Nutrition and Dietetics provides a 4-year program as a part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The aim of our department is to train individuals and to conduct scientific studies and research in this field in order to improve public health, to raise awareness of adequate and balanced nutrition for the society. We provide fundamental courses, field courses, internships and graduation projects. We provide fundamental science courses such as microbiology, anatomy, medical biology, genetics. As for the field courses, we have courses such as adult diseases, nutrition and dietetic practices in pediatric diseases, mother-child nutrition, determination of nutritional status in the society, collective nutrition systems. Apart from these, our students undertake internship applications in the last year. These internship applications are carried out both in the summer and in the semester. In addition, our senior students prepare a graduation project to develop their skills to the next level. Nutrition and Dietetics Department students can study abroad for a semester with the ERASMUS exchange program.
Hello, I am Orçun Ali DEMİR. I am a 4th year student at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Istanbul Esenyurt University. During my preparation period for university exams, I always wanted to work in the field of medicine while choosing my profession and I planned my studies having that in mind. I chose the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics because the most fundamental factor in maintaining health is nutrition. The most important factor for me to choose Istanbul Esenyurt University was its successful academic staff and well-equipped nutrition laboratories. In addition to having these, one of the most important factors in my preference was the fact that it provides much more scholarship opportunities to its students compared to other universities. I benefited the most from our successful academic staff and our library, which has many comprehensive books in its collection. In addition, thanks to the study rooms in our library, we had the opportunity to study with our friends. One of the other most important benefits provided by our university was free internet access. Thanks to this, we were able to easily access online meetings and trainings. After graduation, I aim to pursue a career in clinical nutrition and bariatric surgery diets in field studies and in parallel to this, I aim to become an academician in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. After researching the possibilities and benefits of our university and our department, and after visiting the department stand on preference days, I think they will choose our department without any doubts.
