Faculty of Veterinary Science
Hello, I am Prof. Dr Zafer GÖNÜLALAN. I am the dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Yozgat Bozok University.
Our faculty was established in 1997 and received its first students in 1998-1999 academic year.
Currently, we continue our education and training with one, two, three and fourth grades in our classrooms in Sorgun, the Faculty of Dentistry building in Yozgat centre and Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Engineering.
Courses related to veterinary medicine are clinical courses. In addition to these, courses on animal breeding, animal nutrition, zootechnics, as well as courses on food sciences are given.
Basically, our faculty has consisted of 5 academic departments. Our faculty consists of five departments: pre-clinical sciences, clinical sciences, basic sciences, zootechno animal nutrition, food examination technology departments.
We continue our courses as applied. Each of our main disciplines has theoretical courses as well as laboratories where they practice. In addition to this, we continue our clinical courses in the enterprises, we continue our courses by evaluating our students under the leadership of our professors about animal health at the beginning of the animal.
Our internship practices are carried out when our students are in the 4th grade in our current education-teaching regulation. However, according to the new education-training regulation we are working on, our students will carry out the internship programme in European Union Standards by doing internship every year.
Under the organisation of the external relations office of our university, our students can benefit from ERASMUS programmes in connection with various universities abroad. In addition, our students can be subject to bilateral exchange programmes with animal hospitals and universities abroad with which our faculty has established a connection. Our faculty is a member of the National Veterinary Medicine Education Accreditation Association. For a newly established faculty, it tries to carry out all its processes in accordance with the existing international and national accreditation processes.
In addition, our faculty lecturers and students participate in national and international programmes related to veterinary medicine education.
Veterinary medicine has the opportunity to be employed in many different fields due to its nature. After graduation, our students can work on the health of cattle in rural areas, as well as clinical applications in metropolises and cities for the health of pet animals. In addition, it has the opportunity to be employed in many different fields in the public and private sectors, especially in food enterprises, animal food production enterprises, pharmaceutical companies, pharmaceutical enterprises. We are currently one of the professions with the highest employment rate.
Due to the nature of our profession, our students take courses in many different fields. Since we have a small number of students and we are a newly established faculty, our students' problems are dealt with one-to-one through our vice dean responsible for education and training and our administrative staff. Their problems are easily solved. We provide students with extra study opportunities, laboratories and lectures. In this way, we try to ensure that the student understands the subject well. We try to solve these problems.
Our advice to the candidates who will choose our faculty is to research the profession well. Especially our candidates who will choose the profession of veterinary medicine should not have any problems with their physical health, as it is a profession that requires physical work. They need to research the profession well. There are some difficulties. They need to come knowing those difficulties. I believe that if they fulfil these conditions, it will be a profession they will love. Yozgat Bozok University is a student-friendly and student-oriented university. Yozgat city is also a student-friendly and student-oriented city. Therefore, it is much easier to live life here. Due to its proximity to metropolises and high transport facilities, our students can easily benefit from opportunities in different fields during their education and training.
