Faculty of Medicine
Hello, I am Zeynep KOÇ. I am a 5th semester student at Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Medicine.
The Faculty of Medicine was established in 2007 in order to train physicians to train physicians on the campus of Yozgat Bozok University.
We go through a 6-year education process in medical school. We can divide the first 3 years as preclinical period and the last 3 years as clinical period. We take basic science courses in the preclinical period. It is a theoretical course-heavy process. The courses I took were basic courses such as physiology, histology, anatomy, genetics. It is a process based on the committee system. There are committee exams and at the end of the year we take a final exam covering all the committees. In the 4th and 5th year, we have clinical internship courses. We take courses in various rotations with the title of intern doctor. In the last year, as an intern physician, we work in various rotations for 12 months.
We have anatomy, dissection, simulation and microscopy laboratories in our faculty. We have two cadavers and a large number of various models in our anatomy laboratory. We have separate apparatus for each student in our microscopy laboratories.
In the 4th year, we have 4 basic internships as obstetrics, general surgery, paediatrics, internal medicine. In the 5th year, we have internships such as radiology, urology, neurology, forensic medicine and anaesthesia. When I complete the 4th and 5th grade, we start the last year as an intern physician.
When we graduate from medical school, we are authorised to work in any health unit in the whole country. At the same time, we can optionally take the medical speciality exam and work as a specialist doctor. Again optionally, we can work as a physician abroad as we have equivalence abroad.
My childhood dream was to become a doctor. I wanted to touch people's lives and provide benefits to them. At the same time, when you graduate from medical school, you have a wide range of career opportunities globally. That's why I chose medical school.
While I was choosing Yozgat Bozok University, the fact that it is a young university established in 2007 attracted my attention. At the same time, it has a young and dynamic academic staff. It is easy to communicate with the professors and they are very devoted to the students. At the same time, it is easy to reach the city centre in Yozgat and it is a city where a student will not have difficulty financially. That is why I preferred Yozgat Bozok University.
While studying at the Faculty of Medicine, I benefited the most from laboratory courses. Especially thanks to the models in our anatomy laboratory, I learnt the theoretical information more easily. In our clinical internship courses in the 4th and 5th year, we have morning and evening visit courses. I learnt how to approach patients through the experiences of our professors.
After graduating from medical school, I want to take the medical specialisation exam and work as a specialist doctor in obstetrics and gynaecology.
The faculty of medicine is a very dynamic department. It is a department that is constantly developing and open to innovations. We also need to constantly improve ourselves and work hard. We need to be hungry to learn. We need to make our profession a lifestyle. Therefore, we are waiting for our friends who will not get tired of working, who are patient and who can do their profession with love. I wish success to the fellows who will enter the university exam. We are waiting for you to our Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Medicine family.
