Department of Coaching Education

Hello, I am the head of the department of Coaching Education at the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Yozgat Bozok University. My name is Assoc. Dr. Ali OZKAN.
"Coaching education department is a department established to train coaches and sports experts. The bachelor's degree department provides education in a four-year period. As a result of this education, our students graduate with the title of coaching. When they graduate, they take an equivalence exam with a document issued by the Ministry of Sports, take these documents and start working in the field and in the market. When they start working, they can work not only as coaches and sports experts but also in federations, private schools and clubs.
In addition, if there are students with good academic success, they can join the master's programme affiliated to our department and start their academic life from the master's degree. "
"In the department of coaching education, a transition was made to a program that we call the core program in all of Turkey, which is usually considered as a curriculum.
Within this programme, students can graduate by taking 240 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) in 8 semesters. Here, a new structuring has been made and elective options have been increased in line with the wishes of the students. Normally, students have to take compulsory elective courses in order to graduate, but considering the new legislation, students can choose both optional individual sports and optional team sports in the core program. To give an example of these; they can take individual sports such as tennis, badminton, karate and taekwondo. As team sports, they can take courses such as football, basketball and volleyball. In theoretical courses, they can take courses related to the field they want and are curious about."
"When we consider the structure of Yozgat Bozok University and consider our facilities, we have an outdoor synthetic outdoor football field, an indoor carpet field open to our students and us. In our halls, we have a hall suitable for standard combative sports and a fitness centre and serve our students. We have a structure that is targeted to be completed by the end of 2024 and is coming to an end.
Within this structure, we will have a large facility with fitness halls, body composition laboratory, performance laboratory, physiology laboratory, school games classes and laboratories, sound laboratories and biochemistry laboratories. In addition to these, mirrored halls for folk dances and gymnastics, large seminar and conference halls are about to be completed. There will be new classrooms, new offices, teaching areas, elements that increase the quality of life, recreational areas and forest areas in our facility, which will end in 2024. "
"In our academic staff, we have 1 professor, 3 associate professors, 3 doctoral lecturers, 2 lecturers, 1 research assistant.
When we consider this number, our number in the coaching education department is very good compared to Turkey averages."
Within the coaching structure, we do practices like this from time to time. Within the Scope of the courses, for example, we have final theses in our research project courses, and our undergraduate students have an obligation to do them. In this context, in order to introduce this field to students more actively, we present the projects, lectures, articles and evaluations that our students have made before the finals in the summer months, spring semester, in the foyer area within the university itself.
"When students come to the first grade, they take anatomy, physiology and kinesiology courses, which are interconnected with each other.
Since they learn Latin and English terms in these courses, they may have difficulties. These difficulties arise because students overestimate the lessons in their minds. If they do not understand the subjects, we can discuss with the lecturers and apply extra lessons.
Or they can form groups and be paired with more apt students. Apart from this, we have counselling processes at the department heads.
Here, there is an instructor and student relationship counselling. Students can voice their opinions here. From time to time, we invite students to departmental boards. We discuss the process through some classes. Whatever the needs of the students in the classes are, we make updates up to the courses. We are able to make updates about the courses every month of May."
"Our students who will prefer Yozgat Bozok University from outside the province, when we consider the physical conditions, there is a guarantee that they will not have a problem with the dormitory.
We are in a region where 1 + 1 houses are concentrated in terms of accommodation and housing. We also think that this region will be more active with the high speed train. The high speed train is said to be opened as of April. It is expected that transport will be more comfortable with the high speed train. We even think that students can come to their daily classes.
Apart from that, when you look at the social structure here, we know that the social facilities within the university are mobilised or cafeterias serve here and markets are located here and we think it will be useful for you to see. Our students will not have any problems here. There are cafes and libraries in our university where our students can spend time. I wish success to the friends who will pass the university exam.
