Hello, I am Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berkan KARAGÖZ. I am the head of the Department of Finance at Yozgat Bozok University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
Our Department of Finance started its education and training activities in 2018. In our department, there are 2 associate professors, 3 doctoral lecturers and 1 research assistant. In our department, we have many foreign students, especially from Azerbaijan. The science of finance is a branch of science that examines public economic activities and the financing tools applied for these activities. Within this framework, our research activities and student education activities are continuing.
In the department of finance, courses such as public finance, public economics, tax procedural law, Turkish tax system, government debt, government budget, treasury operations and fiscal policy are taught. In economics, we attach importance to microeconomics, macroeconomics and history of economic thought. Besides, courses such as accounting, law and political science are also included in the curriculum.
There is 1 computer laboratory in our department. Our students can benefit from this laboratory if they need it.
When our students reach the 4th year, we ask them to prepare a graduation project. A supervisor is assigned to them. Under the guidance of this advisor, they specialise in a subject and prepare a graduation paper. Our students can graduate if they successfully prepare the final homework.
In line with our co-operation with the International Office, we have agreements with some countries in Europe. In particular, we have agreements with universities in Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Portugal and Romania. We also have agreements with various universities within the scope of Mevlana exchange programme.
We have a finance symposium organised among faculty members across Turkey. Our department regularly participates in this symposium. When our students graduate, they are employed especially in the staff of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. They can make a career in tax inspectorate and revenue expertise. In addition, they can take the exams of district governorship, administrative judgeship and Court of Accounts auditor. They can also easily find jobs especially in the accounting and banking sector.
After our students are enrolled, an academic counsellor is assigned to them. If they have difficulties in the courses, they can benefit from the academic counsellor. In addition, when they have any difficulties, we, as department lecturers, are available to our students. Our department is a department that is intertwined with the state. Accordingly, students can easily find a job in the public sector when they graduate. Our department has an effective, dynamic and young teaching staff. Our students will be able to benefit from this staff when they come to our university. Also, I recommend that our students participate in the activities of Bozok Finance Community and follow these activities.
