Department of Turkish Language Education
My name is Nayme Nur GÜNEŞ, and I am currently a fourth-year student at Balıkesir University, Necatibey Faculty of Education, studying Turkish Language Teaching. The primary focus of our department is to train Turkish teachers for secondary schools under the Ministry of National Education. The courses in our program can be categorized into three main areas: general culture, vocational knowledge, and field education. Field education consists of both theoretical and practical courses. The theoretical courses encompass the four fundamental language skills and literature, while the practical courses involve theater and drama applications. Our drama lessons take place in the dedicated drama hall at the Necatibey Education Faculty, while computer-related courses are conducted in our computer laboratories.
During the final year, we participate in the internship applications course, where we spend 12 weeks observing and teaching in secondary schools, totaling six hours per week. Upon completion of the Turkish Language Teaching undergraduate program, graduates can pursue careers as Turkish teachers in secondary schools and private institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. With the necessary certifications, they can also offer Turkish language instruction to foreigners.
From a young age, I aspired to become a teacher. My decision to teach Turkish was driven by the desire to learn and teach our mother tongue accurately and effectively. I chose Balıkesir University Necatibey Faculty of Education due to its esteemed reputation, accomplished academic staff, and long-standing history. Additionally, the advantageous location of Balıkesir played a role in my preference for this university.
The professors in our department have significantly contributed to our personal and professional development. Being situated in the city center of Balıkesir, our Necatibey Education Faculty offers convenient transportation and various other benefits. After completing my university studies, I intend to teach anywhere in my country by successfully passing the KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Exam).
Prospective students interested in joining the Turkish Language Teaching Department at Necatibey Education Faculty should focus on engaging in listening and watching activities. It is beneficial to participate in activities such as reading books, self-improvement in our field, attending articulation courses, and enrolling in speed reading courses. I wish good luck to all candidates taking the university exam, and I extend a warm welcome to Balıkesir University Necatibey Faculty of Education.
