Department of Recreation Management
Greetings, I'm Serhat ÖZDEMİR, a first-year student enrolled in the Department of Recreation Management at Balıkesir University's Faculty of Tourism. The Recreation Management department focuses on training tourism managers and planners who specialize in the aesthetic and recreational aspects of tourism. Our curriculum encompasses a range of courses, including general tourism knowledge, management and organization, general recreation knowledge, recreation history, and English and German language courses.
Within our faculty, we have a computer laboratory available for student use, and we also offer instruction on hotel automation systems. As part of the Recreation Management program, we are required to complete a compulsory 90-day internship, and a graduation project is expected in our final year. Our faculty organizes employment and career days to facilitate internship placement and provides access to the Alumni Association, offering valuable networking opportunities. Upon graduation, you will have the opportunity to work in various departments within tourism businesses, as well as in private sectors such as event agencies and public sectors like municipalities.
I chose the Recreation Management department due to the abundant job opportunities and the wide range of career paths available within the field. Additionally, Balıkesir University is renowned for its established reputation and commitment to providing quality education, which influenced my decision to choose this institution. Within the Recreation Management department, we have access to two libraries, one within our faculty and another within the university. Moreover, we have various clubs such as football, volleyball, swimming, and recreational areas where we can play games like table tennis, chess, and billiards.
After completing my studies in the Recreation Management department, one of my goals is to work as a lecturer, specifically in the front office department of a hotel or within our faculty. For candidates aspiring to develop professionally in the field of tourism and experience the spirit of BİTYO (Balıkesir University Faculty of Tourism), I highly recommend considering the Recreation Management department at Balıkesir University. My advice to prospective students selecting the Recreation Management department is to focus on improving their language skills and enhancing their communication abilities, as strong communication is essential in this field.
I extend my best wishes to all candidates preparing for the university entrance exam. I invite everyone to join us at Balıkesir University's Faculty of Tourism, specifically in the Recreation Management Department.
