Faculty of Communication & Public Relations, and Publicity Department
Hello, friends, my name is Doğuş Deveci. I am a 3rd year student year at Başkent University in the Department of Communications and Public Relations. It is located at Bağlıca Campus at Başkent University. It was founded in 1997. I can describe some things about my department in the following way. Our department began to become popular in the 1920s and then spread gradually in a systematic way. Communications has become very popular today because of globalization and the need for information is very important. We have become the elements that institutions and state institutions need. In general, the courses we take in our 1st and 2nd years are more practical and general core classes. What kind of courses does our department offer? Courses in our department include things like Advertising, Public Relations, and Social Responsibility. Unlike the Communication Departments of other universities, we can choose all of the courses that fall under the Faculty of Communications at Başkent University. This is a process that covers things like; Radio, Cinema, Television, and Communication Design. There is no mandatory internship in our department. Students can organize their own internship placements. However, we do receive unconditional support from our professors when go to them. They can help us find internships in various institutions through reference letters or through introducing us to people they know. There is no mandatory graduation paper in our department either. In general, we can work for marketing departments, public relations agencies, public relations departments of institutions or organizations, media organizations, or any other types of organizations working in the field of communications. Another friend of mine will discuss with you about their experiences here studying at Baskent University.
Hello everyone. I am Ayse Gorkem ERDURSUN.I chose this subject as it offers a lot off business opportunities and it has been getting more valuable all around the world and in Turkey. My motivation for choosing Baskent University is the facilities they offer, the content of the lessons and the high quality of tutors. Baskent University stands out due to the opportunities it provides. I find the facilities in the campus really useful for me. Apart from that I also make use of the library, societies, radio and channel. After the graduation I would like to take part in the academic side of the university to take advantage of the high standard facilities. Another option could be to look at the companies which would help me to improve and get more professional experience in my field. My advice to prospective students would be to decide what they really want out of the course. Where would they like to see themselves in the future? These should be the first questions to ask. And then to attend opening days at Baskent University to experience the atmosphere and see the facilities first hand. Furthermore candidates should do research about the content of the lessons. The course provides a variety of options. If the students improve themselves it would be better for their future.
