I’m Jansu Kilich. I’m a second year student in the Turkish Education Department in Bashkent University. In the main central building in Baglica campus lies education faculty. Turkish education is a four-years undergraduate department. Our department’s purpose, as it appears from the name, is to raise qualified teachers. We take certain classes in order to achieve such competence. We take classes that make us equipped. In general We have compulsory field courses. We have general profession, and teaching profession courses. We have general culture both optional and practical courses. In third grade we have courses from different faculties like senario writing and theatrical applications courses. In fourth grade we have Turkish as a scientific language course. We take Ottoman Turkish course in the first grade. As a continuation we proceed with translation in the second grade. We take Old Turkish Literature course. In second grade we intensively focus on the field’s lessons. I’m a second year student now, We use the computer laboratory. Everybody takes a computer. This way, we can realize our applications in the timing frame of the lesson. We do the internship on the fourth grade. During springtime we perform tutoring practices. One day, we do our internship with qualified teachers whom the school had specified then we go to practice. Since we’re going to be the graduates of eduacation faculty we should acquire a diploma that’s internationally accepted. On the side of being teachers, Now we are going to teach student in the second level fifth – sixth – seventh – eighth graders. But it’s also possible if they want to work in other fields like press-release establishments, records office and museums . Because we take translational classes. The nice part of this department is that in the academic sense and aside from preparation, we proceed to take English classes too. Now i also proceed to take english classes. In the academic sense, if there’s anyone thinking about staying in the school like me, English too has a big benefit. In the next part of our video, a friend who’s studying in another department will briefly talk about his experiences while studying in this department in Bashkent University.
Hello, I am Okan Karacaoğlu, I am a first year student at the department of Turkish Education, at Başkent University. My interest for the Turkish language and literature began in secondary school, when I decided to set a goal for myself. I wanted to learn the Turkish language arts and literature, to know the beauty and elegance of this language, and to pass this knowledge on to children through my experience. Therefore, being here at Başkent University is the first step towards my goal. After a lot of research for a private university in Ankara, I have come to the conclusion that Başkent University was one of the best universities in this field. Many factors influenced my decision to choose Başkent University; reasons ranging from convenient transportation to the social activities the university offers. First, I would like to start off by saying that a student who did not earn the habit of reading throughout their education, is a student whose educational background is left unfinished, this is why I would like to mention that we, here in Başkent University, have a very nice, well equipped library from which students can benefit to a great level. I would also like to talk about university transportation, which is available from every district in Ankara during both mornings and evenings. In my opinion, teaching is a sacred profession, and here, I believe that we grow up on good foundation. My personal suggestion is that proceeding with an academic career is best. And I will keep moving forward in this path. Our department has highly experienced and qualified professors, as we are also capable of communicating with them easily both during class time and out of class. Furthermore, our faculty provides us with many equipment, materials and tools that we can benefit from.
