Hello, I am Busra Ozturk. I am a third-year student in the Department of Elementary Education at Baskent University. The aim of the department of Elementary Education is to teach the first literacy education starting from the cognitive and dynamic development of the students in the primary school and to prepare them for the secondary education by teaching the basics of the subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology. That is why, after we take courses based on developmental psychology, educational psychology, child development; we are taking the basics of the courses such as such as physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, Turkish and history. At the same time, we are taking the teaching of science and technology courses, which are based on mathematics teaching, physics, chemistry and biology subjects aimed to give information about how these lessons will be taught to children. We also take courses such as physical education, drama, music, and painting. We have mathematics and computer laboratories. We also have our science laboratory. There are also drama, music, painting workshops. We take the basics of drama, painting, and music courses. At the same time, we can use mathematics and science laboratories whenever we want. We had music courses for two semesters. In these courses, we learn music and songs from every genre that we can use for the education of primary school children. At the same time, we learn to play the flute because it is basic to play the flute. We have three semester internships. We participate in the classes as observers during the spring semester of the third grade. In the fall and spring semesters of the fourth grade, we can enter and teach the classes. In order to graduate, we have to do our internship and take the courses we are obliged to. Apart from that, we have no project or any other theses. After graduation we have many working areas. We can work as teachers in the state and private institutions. At the same time, we can go to a certain area, specialize in a certain area, get a master’s degree and work as an academician. At the same time, we have the opportunity to work as consultants for children in certain media organizations. I want to be an academician. I would like to receive certain educations in this regard.
