Dance Community

Hello. I am Eray Koyuncu, a third year student of Nursing department. At the same time I am a president of the Dance community. Our community was established in 2003 as a Social Community. Our goal is to make students love dance and get to know different cultures better. We hold our meeting on campus in the meeting room given to us by Cultural Directorate. And we do our dance practices in the dance studios, we have two of them. We have almost 500 members. Every year newcomers, especially the prep school students, they want to get to know the school better, to socialize and take part in a different activities and events. That is why a dance community is a great option for them. We accept them. Every year in the beginning of the semester we hold a big meeting. During this meeting we decide what kind of events and hows we are going to put up this year. Our first goal is for our members to get to know each other. That is why we always have breakfasts and dinners organizations. Afterwards, when the basic team is formed, we start performing in and outside the city. In the beginning of the semester when the team is formed, we also start practicing under he supervision of our teachers. We also organize our own festivals annually. During the festivals we host many different teams from different universities. This event is always joyous. Our community is opened to all the students and academic staff of our university. We don't have any specific criteria. We are waiting for those who loves dance. I have been active in this community for 4 years now. That is why I think this community helped me improve my communication skills. I have learned how to communicate with people, how to speak, how to be a leader. Besides that, if you are a bit shy, after joining the community you will improve your self confidence by socializing, meeting new people, and you will feel the difference immediately. I benefit from dance a lot. We have three different dance options. Those are tango, latin and hip-hop. Latin is also devided into several styles. It is always pleasant to work with all of three teams.
