Young Leaders’ Community
Hi, I am Ibrahim Daver Baytaz. I am a fourth-year student at the Department of Economics. I am the founder and president of the Young Leaders Community and we have established this community in 2015. We set up this community so that our goal is to be able to visit both our people who we consider to be leader in the field and the people who care about and adopt the ideas of the society and to enjoy their ideas and experiences as well as to host them in our school and all university students to listen to them. The Directorate of Culture, which is located in our school, gives us the meeting room if we do not demand it. We usually meet with our members every two weeks. Other than that, we ask the secretariats of the departments in charge and arrange suitable classes for us. We can also meet in classrooms when we fit. We can make extras at lunchtime or at school, as a board of directors, or in our cafeteria meetings with our members, about eating and drinking coffee. 7 of them are in the board of directors and our active members are around 45 - 50. Because it is the "leadership" community on the name, every student in our school, in the field of law, politics, engineering and medicine, wants to join this community. Because they can find something out of this community and we can give them too much to develop themselves in this community. We have many activities, as a community. Most importantly, as I said at the beginning, we are giving people the opportunity to visit people they consider to be leaders and to chat with them in their offices. Of course, we provide this opportunity for our members. Together with our members, we go to that person's office or office, ask our questions, get their answers and take advantage of their experiences. At the same time, there are many important names you have invited to our school. In this way, all university students had the opportunity to benefit from all of those guests very efficiently. We also get a lot of experience while organizing these events at the same time; We meet both of those people, we can give you a lot of examples in this regard as we welcome those people. We welcomed many guests in the second period immediately after the foundation, but we welcomed Prime Minister Başbuğ to our school which I can see as the most extensive example. Our school had a hall for 600 people, İhsan Doğramacı conference hall, even though we were standing in the hall that day and we had students around 1000 people. Our Rector came, our Rector helpers came, we had a very active participation. In the beginning, we had eaten together, then we sold books at the same time and signed the book that day. We have done an activity that is very fruitful and thanks to the whole school. There are also activities that we regularly perform. Frankly, we can not say an event we have been doing for years because we are a newer club but last year we had a breakfast with Ali Haberal, the rector of our school. We conveyed to him that we would like to customize it. He also said that he would be satisfied with the service. We invited all the club presidents in your school and we were there full staff as a group of young leaders. When we asked him very good questions, he answered them with all his sincerity. We talked about some very beautiful projects and made a very fruitful breakfast. We are thinking about doing this every year, frankly. All students studying in our community at Başkent University can be a member, there is no problem in any subject. Because, as I said at the beginning, students in every department that have leadership skills will want to join this community. I already said that there are about 45-50 members in our community, indeed, this is a sign that we are open to membership. Even in the board of directors, there are also people who study the law, there are those who study in law, there is also the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Because we are a community that has very different features, the members who come together can experience many things by merging together. Personally I think university communities are very productive and very useful. First of all, I think socializing is the most important feature. Thanks to the club, I can meet many people and get many new friends. Because we have to communicate about ten times a day. We will have to talk 24/7 for a week when it will be an event and we become like a family. We know each other better because it's on the count. Apart from that, if you are entering the board of directors, if you are the president, you have to manage the members and have an immediate solution when there is a problem. This gives us a little emergency control and the ability to produce a solution in the event of a crisis. And he gives us a little experience, working in teams. At the same time, we are very close to the rector with the Cultural Directorate which is located in our school with the academic staff due to the clubs. Therefore, we have the opportunity to meet them very much and we have more information on the subject because we have the opportunity to communicate our problems to the faces of the individuals and we are able to be closer with the academic staff. At the same time we welcome guests, visit guests, become a communication process before we do them. We learn the rules of the protocol, such as how to learn a lot of protocol rules, how to talk about one topic, how to send a mail to a destination, how to be hosted when a guest comes, and so on. And since the last step before entering the business world is the university, I think that I should not only think about the university as a course. I think we will be more successful in business life if we develop ourselves in this regard.
