Dear students, as Istanbul University – Cerrahpaşa, we are one of the research universities chosen by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). We believe research is important, and in this context our infrastructure is very good. We do our best to help students participate in projects and to help them learn about the research culture. Having that in mind, we provide applied entrepreneurship training in all our undergraduate education programs, mostly to senior students. Here, our students who receive this training are given information about both starting their own businesses and the whole process of their work. We have a Technopolis established in 2013 within our university. We have around 120 companies in this Technopolis. Nearly 15 of them are companies founded by our own teachers and students. I want to briefly talk about how to make it there. When our students are in their senior year or after their graduation, they apply to Technopolis as a part of the individual young entrepreneur project and apply to TÜBİTAK. Here, they receive a monetary support of 200 thousand liras for starting their own business, and they stay at Technopolis for a year to learn all the processes of their business and pay a very small fee there. After taking their business to a certain level, young entrepreneurs can request a larger place from Technopolis. Later, those who want to expand their business can also open up to the sector. All of our students do not only work in one place after graduation. At the same time, we teach our students all the processes of establishing their own businesses. To be specific, learning about research culture is a topic we care about as a university. Regarding research, we attach importance to the involvement of our students in the projects they will do with their teachers or in the projects they will make themselves or as a part of student clubs. If they wish, we also allow them to start projects themselves. There is something I need to mention. There is a project that our teachers have put forward together with the industrial sector. The name of the project is "Pine Smart". They are smart diapers that we produced. In this project, when an infection occurs in the urinary tract of young children, the product that we developed changes colour. These products will be featured in all markets next month. This way, we personally follow our students in areas where they can contribute to the national economy and transform the knowledge they have learned into commercial value in reality. We teach them all the processes of obtaining a patent, starting a business or running a business. I can comfortably say that we are here to support our students who want something alongside all of our units. We offer opportunities for all our students to do a project or study for a different subject. These could be Turkish projects abroad or scientific projects carried out by our own university. If the work they do is very valuable, we also have an International Project Incubation Center. With this channel, we also allow them to compete in the international arena. I can say that we will provide all kinds of support to our students who will come to our university in Technopolis or to establish their own businesses, and that we are with them and look forward to welcoming them.
